You play to have fun. You don't speak for everyone. I play good games that spark emotions in me anxiety, anger, happiness, sense of achievement, overcoming obstacles.
If this doesn't suit your play style that's fine. There are games more suited for you.
I guess we can agree to disagree in this. I have real life for all of those things you mentioned. I play games to have fun, not fulfill some shortcoming i have elsewhere.

It's not a shortcoming. If I play a game just for fun I feel like it's a waste of my time. I like overcoming things not everyone is capable of overcoming.
I played escape from tarkov for a long time and that's why I loved that game. That game is not for everyone and the adrenaline rush it gives you is second to none. I wanted an arpg that gives that same feeling

That spike of anxiety is a good thing. The game is making you feel emotions. All the best games make you feel emotions. Do you just want to sit there emotionless spam clicking a button watching a podcast while playing the game on your second monitor?
Brother, this game was built around the dopamine hit of a good drop. Not the anxiety of losing it because you failed to see multiple on-death mechanics, or somehow the stars misaligned in your favor and you just get nuked.
I've played PoE1 for thousands of hours for that dopamine high, specifically in softcore damn near exclusively. I didn't sign up for a hardcore experience, but here I am getting one. How can you not see that issue? Have you not lost HOURS of progress from failing something due to quite literally an unfair mechanic or from what I've seen quite literally bugged interactions?
I get it, it's early access. This game isn't going to look like this hell in 2 weeks let alone a few months, but good grief if they hold true to the one portal mindset I don't think my time and frustration is worth the effort.
Lets just hope they don't put PoE1 on life support as it already has been this year which is such a disappointment as a whole.

Revert it back to the six portals before it's too late.
Please. Holy hell please do this. Whoever thought this was a good idea is crazy.

This reply to me is nonsense. We play to have fun, intentionally trying to create angst in the playerbase is not conducive to long term success.
There are different types of fun. There are different ways to achieve it. Thats why we have different types of games. I got bored of PoE1 exactly because of how dull it became. I want more engaging gameplay than that walking simulator. Intentionally gimping yourself is not a solution. PoE2 > PoE1

That's one load of bs and neither you speak for everyone. If you want to feel anxiety, anger and some happiness, I suggest you hire a mistress for a good old fashioned sp*nking.
Don't confuse real difficulty and fake difficulty. The loss of loot on death and the loss of map on death is fake difficulty. It doesn't contribute to anything and it's not healthy for the future of the game. Overcoming a worthy obstacle is fighting a rough boss that requires to learn its mechanics; not fearing to lose a map because the game is balanced like a drunken sailor with mobs throwing and stun locking you in corners, or one shooting you from off screen.
