Play SSF Hardcore if you want an unforgiving experience.
Dumbest post I've seen in a while.
Hardcore literally deletes your character. This is a weak argument. It's not even comparable between the two.

Path of exile has a reputation for being a game that is challenging. This attracts a certain type of player who is looking for a longer and more in depth gaming experience.
Arduous games that require careful planning and execution to overcome drive people to work together. This creates for a strong community where players develop meaningful relationships with each other over many years. Many of those friendships continue on into other areas of gaming and sometimes in their in person lives.
I'm sure many of you have played lots of online games where your interactions with other players are superficial. Thankfully, POE and POE2 have kept the mantle of challenge alive.
To that end - I suggest you look at games with a similar outlook. There is one very popular game out there, that when you die, your entire current level progress is placed on the ground where you die - and you have one chance to get back to it and reclaim it. IF you die before you do- it is gone forever; and the game treats you as if you are just as strong as if you didn't loose the XP. That is an amazing mechanic.
Thank you for your consideration.
if you are not happy to lose up to 1 hour when you die then you can always set your own personal impose difficulty, if you character die then prevent yourself to play for 1 hour and increment it further the more you die.
There, you have more difficulty and not affecting anyone but yourself.
Losing xp in any form is just dumb because it's doesnt add "difficulty" in any form, it just grinding.

It is the same FOR YOU, why do you want what YOU want to affect everyone?
you want to lose 2 or 3 hours of grinding when you die? then you can do it for yourself, no need to affect everyone for this kind of idiotic mechanic

I want content that not everyone can complete. I want content that I will fail at and I have to take a step back and think about my build and make a new plan in order to beat that content.
I'm not the only one who wants this as well. Their are a 100 other games you can go play that holds the players hand and allows them to beat all the content in the game so it's not too hard for everyone.
That's the way games have become recently. I started playing games in the early 90s and it always wasn't like this. Their were games on the super Nintendo when I was a kid that took me a really long time to beat. I want that feeling again.
There are 100 arpgs that hold your hand have soft core content where dying doesnt matter or mean anything in those games.
I want an escape from tarkov like arpg that you really have to work hard to get good at. You shouldn't be able to beat all content in the game on your first build you make on your own. You sound entitled.
No wait you are entitled. You want everything handed to you without you doing anything to earn it

If you want all of that, hardcore ssf exists. Hardcore ssf ruthless also exists in PoE 1 for players looking for a punishing challenge. Many others however despise how punishing the base game is, it will chase away players and will hurt the profits of the game. It's gonna have to change if GGG want to make money off a live-service seasonal game, which they do.

I want all that I just listed as the normal default option. I want hardcore and SSF to be there ontop of that as an additional challenge.
I want completing all endgame content on a game to be labled as an achievement that not everyone can do, or can be done if you put the time and effort into it. Stop with the hardcore SSF argument.
It's weak. 10% death xp is not the same as your character being deleted

Well that would be a dead game, you're asking for something impossible. GGG quite literally would not make enough profits so they'd have to close down the game, or in a worse case turn it into a mobile game with p2w stuff in the in-game shop to keep it running.
That kind of game would have far too few players and it just wouldn't work today, because that's not what most people would find fun. One look at the forums shows exactly how players feel about the game atm. And this is only people that bother to comment, for each person there's 10 more that are silent.

"I want content that not everyone can complete."
Why? you need to publish your e-peen? most content should be doable, I also dont get how is having heavier penalty to dying is supposed to promote this, you know that most people that really want to do end game is not a big % already?
you want to feel special for what reason? again, that always possible by adding your own self impose difficulty, record yourself, stream yourself then you will be able to say you are the only one that did it, similar to the challenge people do on youtube (like doing all Dark souls without being hit)

I play games to overcome challenges. There are games out there like that underail escape from tarkov to name two. I was hoping to add to my list of games that give me a nice feeling for overcoming a hard challenge. If you just want to play a game and chill there are plenty of games out there for you.
This shouldnt be turned into one of them. I would argue if it gets turned into one of those they will lose more player then if devs stand their ground.
