10% xp penalty is far too forgiving

Path of exile has a reputation for being a game that is challenging. This attracts a certain type of player who is looking for a longer and more in depth gaming experience.

Arduous games that require careful planning and execution to overcome drive people to work together. This creates for a strong community where players develop meaningful relationships with each other over many years. Many of those friendships continue on into other areas of gaming and sometimes in their in person lives.

I'm sure many of you have played lots of online games where your interactions with other players are superficial. Thankfully, POE and POE2 have kept the mantle of challenge alive.

To that end - I suggest you look at games with a similar outlook. There is one very popular game out there, that when you die, your entire current level progress is placed on the ground where you die - and you have one chance to get back to it and reclaim it. IF you die before you do- it is gone forever; and the game treats you as if you are just as strong as if you didn't loose the XP. That is an amazing mechanic.

Thank you for your consideration.

Dying at 92+ sets me back like an hour, its forgiving early on, no at all later on.

When you really start putting your build together, and you can chain running double corrupt maps which can have what? 12? modifiers, death will eventually come to some BS even with a very strong build to an unlucky crit.
Yes, we should lose access to PoE2 for a week when we die.

+1 based take.

But really, POE has a reputation and GGG should preserve it. We already have EZ mode ARPG games where you barely have to think and everyone wins. POE is the most rewarding out of all ARPG's if you put in the time to understand its mechanics and the ins/outs of how to make builds. Its SO MUCH FUN once you start to "get it". But POE is to other ARPG's what a game like Tarkov is to Call of Duty. Punishing but also extremely rewarding once you get the hang of it.

hahahahaha!

POE 2 should brick your GPU if you die so you cant play any games, the true hardcore ARPG experience.
Did you know that there's rumors of a change happening where exp loss only applies after lvl90? I can't wait for this change to be implemented into the game.

OK but my question is this... at level 92, does leveling even really matter? Yeah its nice but +1 skill point isnt going to make/break your build at that point. And if someone is "dying repeatedly" then they are running content thats too hard, and/or something is wrong with their build that needs fixing.

Sure its nice to have those extra 10 points after level 90 but no builds *require* it, even in POE 1 most builds only require 80-85 points to be fully online and everything else after that is just a bonus.

Interesting. Im not sure how I feel about this. I like the XP loss but this could be a nice middle ground. Its not super punishing to the whole community, and it makes those last 10 levels meaningful and rewarding for those who can pull it off. No builds require 100 levels anyways, realistically most guides are probably only going to 85-90 similar to POE 1.

So the same as Dungeons & Dragons. I can get behind this.
