10% xp penalty is far too forgiving

Dying at 92+ sets me back like an hour, its forgiving early on, no at all later on.

When you really start putting your build together, and you can chain running double corrupt maps which can have what? 12? modifiers, death will eventually come to some BS even with a very strong build to an unlucky crit.

OK but my question is this... at level 92, does leveling even really matter? Yeah its nice but +1 skill point isnt going to make/break your build at that point. And if someone is "dying repeatedly" then they are running content thats too hard, and/or something is wrong with their build that needs fixing.

Sure its nice to have those extra 10 points after level 90 but no builds *require* it, even in POE 1 most builds only require 80-85 points to be fully online and everything else after that is just a bonus.

for me its like 20% increased ES per level, plus level up bonuses which are minor but there. Thats nothing to sneeze at, 3 levels give me 750 or so more ES.

Yep, a couple back to back deaths at high level in POE1 could slow your level bar down by a couple hours. There are strategies to get around this.

Besides, when you hit 100, you never have to worry about XP penalties again.

Maybe when you hit 100, if you die, you should go back to 99 with 90% XP ?
I should be fired from my job and have my nuts crushed for dying because this game is for jobless hardcore 24/7 tryhards only.
I should never be able to relax after work grinding on my lv90 chronomancer, I hate having fun and want to be punished even harder.
Please delete my account on death so I have to spend my money again!
I get the feeling that all of you, who are for all these on death penalties (Exp,time, investment loss) are also in favor of forced PvP servers in other games. Which, over time, leads to that server turning into single faction only, practically eliminating said forced PvP.

The idea is novel, the implementation - always miserable. Just like communism ^^

With the very few elites at the top of the game enjoying themselves and laughing at others misery.
This is the worst idea I've read in these forums so far. Hands-down.

Sorry, but are are you saying that you don't find challenging games to be a good way to relax after a day of work ? Because I do.

Look, there is chess, and then there's checkers. If you're a checkers kind of person, why play chess? And whats more why, after agreeing to play chess, would you complain that its not like checkers ?

This game is not challenging. 45% increased movement speed character pulled a pack bottom of screen, react and run opposite direction and get clipped into stun and die immediately anyway, dodge roll is not an option since youll be hit out of recovery and die.
Well, that sure was a challenging encounter, I should have nuked the pack off screen and not interact with the game. Anyway there goes 1.5hours of xp. What an enjoyable and fun experience this challenge was.

If I want to challenge myself I hit up ranked SF6 and go for legend or play hardcore and not a softcore character.

Did you know that there's rumors of a change happening where exp loss only applies after lvl90? I can't wait for this change to be implemented into the game.

Did you know there's rumors of a change happening where dying will brick your GPUso you cant play any games, the true hardcore ARPG experience.
I heard Chris Willison shows up to you house and steals your dog so you have to go all John Wick tracking him down and have no time to play.

Im glad we agree its not challenging. I can also think of games that are much more challenging.

Hopefully they can make the death penalties a bit stronger to enhance the feeling of success when you complete things.

I'll just hit up "streamer afk level 100 build" and achieve a feeling of success when I play a braindead tanky build to level 100 instead of doing what the game wants to encourage, building your own character. Congratulations, you're the brightest lightbulb in the defective pile.
