Trading in PoE2 is an awful experience

Title says it all.

I had a simple goal at the start, "buy 3 jewels, for 1ex each, to help get my build off the floor and into maps." This is something many players will have to do at some point. Gear is overwhelmingly important in this game compared to poe1 as all the power has been removed from the passive tree.

I whispered 30 different people and got no responses at all. It wasted 20 minutes of my life just waiting and hoping and whispering the next and the next and the next. It was exceedingly frustrating. So I ask you:

This trade system, what are the pro's and cons here?

Does it have meaningful player interaction, as was the original intention from Chris years back?

Absolutely not. Or at best, extremely rarely. Its either instant trade or no response in the overwhelming majority of interactions that I've seen.

Does it allow you to better prevent botting and market manipulation?
Absolutely not, these things are still a massive problem in the game. In fact by allowing traders to not have to sell the item they list many more market manipulation strategies become available to bad actors.

I could go on but... I'm at a loss here to find any pros to this system.

Same experience as trading in PoE 1.

It's a pain in the butt, but it's what we have.

Absolutely, but this is EA so the feedback should be given. It is garbage, why are they keeping it?

Couple that with them increasing the frustration/tedium in other areas of the game. Is there no part of poe2 that can be a smooth experience?

I spent over an hour doing this. Whispering, whispering, whispering... Trying to buy an item. I was already starting to think that somewhere in my settings, receiving invitations or whispering back was disabled. I also tried changing the interface language and the gateway before whispering.
The fact it’s in a browser causes all kinds of issues for stressing/crashing the server. There are just too many tools available to do things in a browser that result in too many requests that it can handle. I’m sure there are multiple price check, item check etc tools that are all parsing pages 24/7, or 16/7 since the trade site is up and down so often.

The currency exchange shows they have some ability to do trades in game, that’s a start hopefully it’s planned to move items to a similar system in game.
You're underpricing. Trying to get the best stats for the least amount of money. Thats when you get stuck in the "flipping zone", where people trade stuff in seconds just to get a good price or to make money from trading.

Pay 2-3 exalted more for the item and get it instantly.
Yes current trading mechanic is a major problem.
i dont understand why they wont put a simple auction house into the game. You already have to pay a gold fee for trading currency. Why using third party websites or websites at all to do trading?

I played WoW for 13 years, the auction house was a integral part of the game. Dont know why this couldnt be the case here too...

I played PoE on console. I had hoped that the trading system would have been integrated into PoE2. Sadly it was not. Trading is a miserable experience in PoE2.
Yep same as in PoE 1.

Also you should just spam whisper non-stop going down the list until you hear that party-invite notification sound effect. Don't wait for people 1 by 1 to respond, because that's a waste of time since it takes so many whispers to just get 1 trade.

It sucks. They should just make an auction house system out of the currency exchange that Alva has.
