Evasion not counting towards honor in trial?
Yes evasion is the worst defense. Take Iron Reflexes and max out resistances if you want to live.
Sucks but that's how it is. |

I came across this post googling because this has been a pain point for me too.
I sympathize with OP because he is right. Evasion is a "maybe" not a binary hit or no hit like ES. I would rather your evasion rating be buffed overall to lower enemy accuracy or be calculated into a total that contributes to the total sum of honor. More evasion rating = more flat honor total. I play with a friend using the OP witch build and she has somewhere around 7-8k honor. Quite literally walking through traps and obstacle course shrugging off hits. Its a joke that im taxed as a ranger to spec out of evasion into ES and replace gear for more life just to be on an even playing field as other classes for some content. So yeah my solution is buff evasion so that hits actually "miss" more, or add its percentage into the equation for calculating total honor. Last edited by Hoolagun#9936 on Dec 25, 2024, 11:02:01 PM

Quite frankly while I can see OP's point of view, I fully agree with the other posters in this topic that evasion should not double dip.
The better question is, at what level are you trying to do the 3rd trial? Are your resistences up to spec? Why is your base HP so low if you are in the cruel act? A single defensive layer is never the answer in PoE, this includes PoE2 as well. To give you an idea I've cleared the 3rd ascendency with primarily 2-2.5k Life/400ES and 70% ES while being fully capped at elemental resistences and roughly 20% chaos res. This netted me roughly somewhere between 3.5-4k Honour (not that far from OP's) whilst traps in general didn't do as much damage, particularly fire. Poison did do a decent chunk but never more that a 20% of my honour. I'm saying this on purpose because a friend of mine got toasted with 8k honour through life+mind over matter but lacked the fire resistence (roughly 20% at the time) and he gets chunked for nearly 20% per incorrect roll through the fire trap. *Guessing the exact values since it's been a while that I remember the stats of a character that's not mine. If you play with evasion as a primary defensive stat, you will need resistences and life to play around the chances of getting hit. It's good you got honor increasing relics along with honor defending relics. Just up the rest through gear. Just to mess around, since tensions were quite high in here, you could try your luck with the merchant and get the 'don't take damage next room' right before the boss. (remembering my first ascendency after doing that with a friend of mine after 10+ failed attempts). Last edited by Nxyle#3073 on Dec 26, 2024, 12:01:36 AM

" Cant speak for OP but im under 2k hp and 450ish ES and im just over 2k honor. Whats different is if my friend playing witch with 8k honor takes a 400honor hit its a tiny chip off the total. That same hit is a large percentage off my total amount. If the games rng calculates the enemy had low accuracy or not. Which isnt even skill based. It just makes more logical sense that every class' honor is calculated in trials exactly the same, if every class is measured at the end excatly the same. Energy shield is by far the most broken mechanic on witch making it substantially more "tanky" than a warrior. Which just doesnt make any sense. Logically speaking. And evasion being maybe i get hit or not isnt sufficient enough of data point to be measured separately on a finite resource like honor. I would rather it be put into the same pool calculating total honor as every other defense and just either get hit or not like everyone else. Because we all have dodge rolls and reaction time. |
