End Game Is Rough
So I've spent about a day and half doing maps and its been a gruelling experience. I've levelled up 1 and a half times and have had to resort to trading to get more appropriate gear. I've capped a bunch of resistances now and my damage is great considering I got lucky with a way above average staff.
The issues I'm facing are: 1. General mobs feel pretty balanced, they will punish you for being reckless. Getting attacked with projectiles from offscreen though is not okay, especially since projectile damage seems way overtuned considering it only takes a couple of hits to die. 2. Events/mechanics on the map throw the entire gameplay philosophy of PoE2 out the window. Mobs spawn in so rapidly and in large numbers that in things like delirium (edit: I meant breach) I literally survived for 1 second after activating it. I had 0 time to actually react. theres no thoughtful and deliberate gameplay when the mechanics themselves are not designed for slower gameplay. 3. because of point 2, I literally avoid even trying any of the mechanics now as theres just no upside to them for me personally. So its just standard map clearing right now, which is pretty boring and unrewarding. 4. The entire experience just feels like "F you for trying." Lose waystone, lose map events, lose loot, lose xp, lose boss maps while gaining very little from any given run. Use a 300% waystone drop chance waystone that adds tons of detriments, clear the map, not a single waystone drop or good loot. So what did I actually make my life harder for? 4.1 We need more waystone and trial token drops. 5. The atlas tree is 90% nodes to make the players life harder, which is okay I guess for giga chads but offers very little for people who are struggling. 6. Overall I think the punishment is way too high for all the costs involved to run a map. Let us use portals to have another crack at it and balance the enemies especially projectile based packs who can spit tons at you in a second and end your run. I am aware that we were warned this is EA and end game hasn't been cooked for as long as GGG want yet. This is just feedback based on my experience and I think more hardcore players may be having a better time. I just don't think end game should have this level of inaccessibility for more casual players even though I don't consider myself super casual. completely agree about the spawn rate when activating a ritual or any of the other mechanics. first time I hit on a ritual (in maps) and I was constrained to a extremely small area and 100's of mobs spawned in I was like well that was a surprise. most of the game from act 1-3 then cruel 1-3 you never experience that amount of mob density

I'll add this here. Maybe the developers will see it.
Where do the waystones drop? The quest requires completing level 4 maps. I have level 1 and 2 maps. I've completed about 20 level 2 maps and received 6 level 2 waystones for this. How can I continue playing? Where can I get level 4 maps (waystones)? How can I continue playing when waystones of the same level only drop with 3-4 maps. Merchants also don't sell waystones. In fact, I can't continue playing. The game is over for me. Or run level 1 maps. Which is very boring |

" Yeah waystone drops are atrocious especially considering you take on hefty detriments in order to increase near non existent drops. You can buy them but they are crazy expensive from Doryani I cant start tier 2 maps because I havent had a sngle one drop in 2 days of mapping Last edited by OG_Smez#4109 on Dec 14, 2024, 6:01:38 AM

I think there are some adjustments behind the curtain.
At least for Delirium, mob density seems to have been adjusted. I guess Ritual will get its fix too. |

" I didnt notice delirium lol. I got instant killed, like literally a second after trying it. Either they could reduce enemy damage or they reduce the spawn rate and stick to the gameplay the rest of the game is known for. fewer mobs but more challenging mobs. |

Seems like you just gotta use currency items on your waystones to generate higher tiers. I've been mapping for like a little over an hour and tier 3/4 seems easily sustainable to me.
My first impressions of this is pretty rough. Death seems like too big of a deal. I could see how weak characters who barely made it out of campaign would have a terrible first experience. I only died once and it kind of pissed me off. No bosses every map seems incredibly boring compared to PoE, especially since the bosses here are actually interesting. Playing janitor duty and running around slowly trying to clear out rares is not that fun. There should be some incentive to full clearing, it shouldn't be forced on you. Atlas points seem really slow to collect? Like I'm seven maps in and I haven't gotten a single point yet? Low tier maps in PoE were always fun because you're collecting atlas power so quickly, but here it's like nothing. |

What really frustrates me right now is the number of times i died to an instant 1 shot death mechanic from a rare (i play melee), I mean, I tought they only existed in poe 1 to stop (albeit a bit) of the zoom zoom going on, and even then you can still continue to zoom zoom through another portal.
Here I aint zooming, still get os and lose all drops, all map mechanics and xp, I'm a bit at a loss at how I'm supposed to "enjoy" playing a game with unfair and frustrating mechanics. I really do love the game, but op's point and mine are making me me lose the will to play for now |
