Nerfing the fun out of the game

Dear GGG!

Let me start by saying that I love the game! Amazing art, music, voice acting, map design, and lore/character writing. I'm having a lot of fun. Actually, I was taking a long break from PoE and I have come back for PoE 2!

However, a decent chunk of the fun in PoE 1 was the ability to create all kinds of broken and silly builds. It was a challenge on its own, a puzzle to figure out. So of course people want to do the same in PoE 2.

Now, I understand that some balancing is required. But with all due respect, I believe the recent nerfs went too far, and it seems that many people feel the same way. Not to mention that with the price of re-speccing, it really blows when someone has to re-spec their entire passive tree because nerfs made their build practically useless.

Please reconsider these nerfs. Balancing the game is one thing, nerfing all the fun out of it is another.

With love and respect,
A player

These are "hardcore games"
There is no point in playing a broken build. It is not designed for you to have fun. They did not make narrow passages and dead ends with rare monsters for this)
I hated it when Bliz did this to Diablo3. They took everything the players actually liked about D3 and took it all out. They ruined thier own game and so I stopped playing.
The fact that people react to a FEW nerfs and think that qualifies as "nerfing all the fun out" is a symptom that there are not enough viable builds in the game. If there were more builds a single nerf would barely matter.

And why are there not enough builds? Well there are two reasons

1:The passive tree is unbalanced, lacking decent regen options and also lacking damage if you are playing certain builds(non-ailment DoT especially, as some debuffs are not ailments). The lack of regen/leech on tree is why melee is considered to be so bad, when it actually needs it to compete with ranged classes and casters(where the casters are tanky due to ES).

2:The skill gems are incomplete, we do not even have half of them yet

It's not about "a few nerfs." It's about a consistent pattern: Every time a new powerful or broken build is posted online, its enabling mechanic gets nerfed within a day. It seems very reactionary.

That said,

You have a point there.
Its sad to see when they remove cool interactions, like raging spirit auto cast for example. There was ward loop in poe 1 so why rhis is a problem all of a sudden. I like builds that deal automated damage, because i have carpal tunnel and cant press a lot especially on my mouse hand.
I have been experimenting with Cast on Shock. I'm a Stormweaver and I constantly shock everything, yet it takes forever for the gem to trigger just once.

In other words, Cast on X gems are useless and pointless now. This is what I've meant by nerfs going too far.

Cast on Shock works fine on bosses if you use it for applying debuff/DOT(doing anything that casts once and sticks around for a while, such as Orb of Storm) or remove/reapply shock constantly.

I think this is more of an issue with shock not being able to be applied to shocked enemies. (can use overcharge for reducing shock duration)

Yes, maybe the additional gems for other weapon tpyes will help. But I do agree, that there seems to be only a handful of 'viable' builds for each class at the moment. Some of the thing in the passive tree just seem bad. Not a fan of the ones that have drawbacks as well - just make the node less powerful, why does it need a drawback?
