I'm all for it, even better if it's empty, I prefer no crowds. Just don't call ruthless, rather call the power creeped mode ballless.

Seeing the community slowly splitting into two camps that have a hard time understanding each other, I think PoE2 should have a normal and ruthless mode.
Ruthless mode can have the low drop rates and inflated mob hp that so many people seem to enjoy and the zoomers can play normal and experience their hero fantasy. Like that everyone can have their way without being angry at GGG or 'the other side' for influencing 'their' game mode.
An even better alternative would be to upgrade PoE1 with the new graphics as I feel most systems in 2 are a downgrade compared to 1, but I'm afraid GGG will never do big investments in 1 again.
Ruthless doesn't need lower drop rates. Just harder difficulty.

They already did. PoE2 was originally an expansion for PoE1. They split it and now its a separate game. Stick with PoE1 if you don't like it.
How about you stick with ruthless in PoE1
And we get a new game in poe2?
So we can get another POE 1?

Path of Exile 2 players who bought GGG's vision for the new game and supported that vision would like to avoid being shunted off to a small, forgotten side mode of the game while the PoE1 players turn the majority of PoE2 into the same meaningless impossible Nuclear Armageddon-level lootsplosion POE1 is. Nor are we keen on being shunted into a small, forgotten side mode of the game while the damage numbers on the main game are cranked by 1000x so players can blast through the new game at the same thoroughly unreasonable scaling and speed they can in Path of Exile 1.
This was supposed to be a new game. A new paradigm, a shift in the ARPG genre. Why should the people who wanted what Grinding Gear told us they were making be cordoned off into a little forgotten camp while the people who hate this game and want it destroyed for the sake of making it into nothing but a pale, shitty echo of its creaking, ancient forebear get to have their way free and unimpeded?

So we should remove Hardcore. Got it.
Hardcore doesn't require different balancing. It's just a mode where everyone playing that mode died exactly 0 times.
Similarly, PoE1 ruthless is a mode that applies global cuts to drop rates and such to the base game. That's why it's not truly a differently balanced game but simply a base game where everything is more scarce. That's also why it's even remotely not the same as PoE2.
Very much agreed and this is what so many people are missing.

It interresting to me that people who like the game to be ruthless'ish are also against this
This would be in your best interrest
You can stop making post explaining worry that GGG will give into "dumbing down" the game
Worry no more
Don't you see that this would make GGG much more willing to give you guys what you want?
They wouldn't have to consider holding back on making the game very challenging
at all
GGG could cater to both crowds
It's not like they haven't ran 2 modes before in PoE 1
It would likely also bring in GGG much more profit, since it would be more approachable for casuals, without interfering with your game mode
What is really the downside?
Feel like people just want to be contrarian
Checklist
1. Both crowds will get the gamemode they want
2. There will be no weird middle ground where both sides will be left not satisfied
3. More profit for GGG
4. Not as much fighting as there is currently in the playerbase
Im against it because thats stupid idea. PoE2 is created with current power level, drop rates and mechanics in mind. It would change into walking simulator with poe1 power level. That mode would also be the most popular. Why? Because players are lazy and greedy, they will always choose path of least resistance. You would have to make 2 different balance teams and its problematic to balance one mode. Its not the same as ruthless in poe1. That mode mode added as challenge because the game is supposed to be played with much higher power level. In poe2 its the opposite, game is meant to be played with weaker character.

It would be two different modes
Not shared
So if people would indeed pick it, then it just means they would prefer it

And im saying players are lazy so they will pick the easy mode therefor game will get balanced around that easy mode completely destroying the intended way to play. The same way ruthless sucks because the game is not meant to be played like that, poe2 normal mode would get gradualy more unplayable.
