Why did you turn PoE 2 into Ruthless 2.0?

Bump.

Can't for the life of my understand why not giving both the casual players that don't want every encounter to be a life and death spacebar fest an option.

Having a "hard" or "ruthless" mode for the hardcore sadists that love 15 billion hp bullet sponge white mobs to keep them off our backs would be nice.

POE made its success over 12 years of insane build diversity and balancing hard content with just mindless action and fun.
I want to spend my afternoon to zoom around some maps?
Great I could do that.
I want to spend my Saturday pursuing uber bosses with sweaty hands?
Great I could do that.

Your player numbers will drop like a rock in about 10 more days if the game stays on the current trajectory. I'm talking 90%+ of players gone. At least.

Yeah for sure, I mean it would be no different from the mass amounts of players that refused to play Ruthless mode, only difference being that is just a simple mode within PoE 1 so it probably isn't that big of a deal, but this being their sequel, it will be a very different story for them, talk about lots of development down the tube for a small player base. The steam charts show the downward trend already.

Bump
Because they only want to have 29 players who actually play the game, just like with Ruthless.

There are dozens of them. Literally dozens!!

Its not even hard, its just boring, slow and unfun to play.

+1

This game was made for people who want to finish a soulslike game on level 1. This is how it plays.

Just hit cruel, so by no means is my opinion that of an expert, but damn, the game does feel like dark souls, where every encounter is deadly unless you're constantly on top of your game.
Why though? You don't invest into any defenses? Because most encounters are actually pretty chill if you have enough mitigation.
They turned it into 'ruthless 2.0' because the hardcore players don't want PoE2 to be the entry vehicle GGG wanted it to be, and GGG always listens to the them.

Despite needing to appeal to the 'Casual' because they need the to pay and play.

I have no doubt the game will need massive changes—what we see on release will likely be very different from its current state. However, if they insist on keeping it in this dreadful Ruthless 2.0 state, they should at least bring the new gem system over to Path of Exile 1 as originally planned. That was the idea when Path of Exile 2 was supposed to be an expansion for PoE 1, before someone at GGG decided to chase this bizarre vision of turning PoE into a Souls-like game.

Did I miss the part where Ruthless mode was considered a beloved feature? My impression was that it was widely disliked, yet you’ve built Path of Exile 2 around it. I’m genuinely trying to understand how one of the most criticized modes you’ve introduced became the foundation for what could have—and should have—been an incredible sequel.

By removing movement skills, gutting trigger mechanics, eliminating crafting, and tying skills to weapons (severely restricting build creativity and freedom—the hallmark of Path of Exile), you’ve buried the game’s strengths under the weight of Ruthless mode mechanics. It’s disheartening that this was seen as the only path to increasing difficulty.

If Ruthless is being imposed as the default experience, it’s time to include the opposite: a mode where these restrictive mechanics are removed and fun is prioritized. Bring back movement skills, untie skills from weapons, and restore the openness that made Path of Exile stand out. I’d wager that such a mode would be far more popular than this “Ruthless 2.0” approach.

Sad part is, its not even difficult, its difficult to play because we have no options of fun builds, mathematically, the scaling on all the gems damage is/are ABYSMAL, very low and un fun.

Got gear from act 1-2-3 that took me to 88 with no issues.

Its not a skill issue, its a lack of diversity issue, the thing the games known for.

Crafting? You mean dropping random orbs and getting random results? thats not crafting thats gambling. Crafting would insinuate some brainpower was used.

Orb of alteration was more gamba than anything. Glad they got rid of it.
