Why did you turn PoE 2 into Ruthless 2.0?

we knew ruthless was an alpha test for poe 2.

Did I miss the part where Ruthless mode was considered a beloved feature? My impression was that it was widely disliked, yet you’ve built Path of Exile 2 around it. I’m genuinely trying to understand how one of the most criticized modes you’ve introduced became the foundation for what could have—and should have—been an incredible sequel.

By removing movement skills, gutting trigger mechanics, eliminating crafting, and tying skills to weapons (severely restricting build creativity and freedom—the hallmark of Path of Exile), you’ve buried the game’s strengths under the weight of Ruthless mode mechanics. It’s disheartening that this was seen as the only path to increasing difficulty.

If Ruthless is being imposed as the default experience, it’s time to include the opposite: a mode where these restrictive mechanics are removed and fun is prioritized. Bring back movement skills, untie skills from weapons, and restore the openness that made Path of Exile stand out. I’d wager that such a mode would be far more popular than this “Ruthless 2.0” approach.

Its not Ruthless

its Diablo+DarkSouls with a POE skin.

Im not happy about it

Yes you missed that part. It was the same part where people wanted sanctum and ultimatum for trials. ^^

No, this has nothing to do with any specific build—my concerns aren’t about what’s been nerfed so far. At this rate, it feels like we’ll all eventually get hit or be forced to play subpar builds just to stay safe.

The real issue here is being thrown into a Ruthless-like experience, despite it being one of the most hated modes in Path of Exile. I’m trying to understand the logic behind taking a mode that was so disliked and then using it as the foundation for the sequel. It’s baffling to see a feature with such negative reception become the core design philosophy of Path of Exile 2.

Its just really unbalanced at the moment. There are Skills and classes that have no problem and then there are Skills that are just bad ( *cough Arc *cough)

And yes. A little bit more movement speed doesnt turn this into zoom zoom.
Lag kills people

Lag is for the most part out of peoples control

We are being punished for something we cannot control

Losing an expensive map because we died to lag (or related issue) or died to a major boss one time and lose the map entirely is just a RECIPE FOR FEEL BAD AND UNFUN

You mean the guy on the top leaderboards for POE2 this weekend?

My advice, stop contending with the characters you are discussing, and contend with the actual arguments.

That way you aren't just another toxic ass.
Bump.

Can't for the life of my understand why not giving both the casual players that don't want every encounter to be a life and death spacebar fest an option.

Having a "hard" or "ruthless" mode for the hardcore sadists that love 15 billion hp bullet sponge white mobs to keep them off our backs would be nice.

POE made its success over 12 years of insane build diversity and balancing hard content with just mindless action and fun.
I want to spend my afternoon to zoom around some maps?
Great I could do that.
I want to spend my Saturday pursuing uber bosses with sweaty hands?
Great I could do that.

Your player numbers will drop like a rock in about 10 more days if the game stays on the current trajectory. I'm talking 90%+ of players gone. At least.
