I would prefer POE1 v2
" While retention numbers are always lower, I think even just steamdb numbers are a good indication that PoE 2 has captured vested interest far beyond the dedicated PoE 1 fanbase. I don't think it'd make much financial sense to bend a game which is fundamentally different into a currently existing product when that product not only exists but is actively developed. For what it's worth, I hope PoE 2 keeps its current flavor. |

" Current numbers are impressive It's also a brand new game with shiny visuals Much more marketable than a new league from a dated looking game like PoE 1 But PoE 1 numbers are still much more impressive, even if the peak numbers are much lower The longevity, consistensy and growth is what matters here PoE 2 is partly very succesful because of PoE 1's track record We have yet to see if PoE 2 will be able to maintain the big numbers in the long run As it stands, I don't think the game is its current form will be as enjoyable to constantly replay with a new league 4 times a year And I think a large chunck of the current audience are mostly interrested in playing the game once I don't think they will stick around like the PoE 1 audience did for a decade or so Last edited by Jokke1989#7206 on Dec 11, 2024, 4:33:03 PM

As a matter of fact, I dislike how PoE 1 - like the game is from ~ Act2 cruel onwards.
Maps drops feel comparable to playing poe1 WITH lootfilter, that part is great in my opinion! The resistances are way to difficult to aquire in my opinion and they are absolutely nessessary. I had more rips in my ealry lv3-4 maps then afterwards in my lv 5-9s just due to upgrading my gear to now ~55-65 allres and 15 chaos res. The map gameplay is awesome until you die and loose everything, exp, your map, your bonus for the next map. Endgame rn feels like PoE 1 with less visual clarity, less tankyness (esp. as melee) and FAR to much outgoing dmg (-> I permfreeze and 1-shot everything but a lightning shrine in a ele weekness or shocked/burning ground map bricked some of my best maps). HP from both players and monsters is too low (or dmg too high) in my opinion. Mapping speed, mob density, drops (with poe1 lootfilter), difficulty, all feel similar to poe1. The ONLY issue is that even though I can die just as easily, there is only 1 portal. It feels as if the punishing part of poe2 stayed around but the fun part of slow, methodic, challenging gameplay of act 1-3 normal got lost entirely. I don't want to play poe1 with punishment, lost maps, single portal maps and terrible ascendance trials (I'm looking at honor lost to fire/poison traps mostly). I did 3 rare rooms without loosing a single honor sometimes but those poison/fire traps kill 1/5th of my total if I got hit only once, so ridicilous! Probably the honor resistance doesn't work on them!?. To me, either they should make poe2 engame poe2 like --> MUCh slower, much less density, much less dmg dealt and taken. OR, keep it as is but remove the punishments, give full 6 map portals and increase resistance values on gear/make them more available in the passive skill tree (which would make it exactly like poe1, just with better graphics and not yet updated clarity for dangerous effects, which simply can't be seen with all the visual skill spamming and mob density). |

About the patch who get nerf "cast on"
I'm glad to don't play it, but it means a lot in the future in gamedesign in PoE2, they nerf trigger mechanics and combinations, so I think they will do it with all combinations like that. It feels like a generic ARPG who stole the passive trees and some mechanics of PoE1... |

I'll play this game for the novelty, but if it continues like this for me this poe-2 is stillborn, I'll stop playing it as soon as there's a league in poe-1, or I'll look for something else to play. It lacks the spirit of poe 1, although it retains many things. They've included rutless which I hate, and the game feels heavy, and without the freedom that there was in poe-1. So the countdown is already beginning, because this is not what I expected, an improved poe-1, it's a poe worsened in many aspects so that it can be played on console.
