Is there power-leveling/power-acting in this game?

Most simple way to introduce some kind of leveling while not runing the same
maps all over again is to enable maps drops on low levels

Example: low level maps can drop from lvl25 onwards from act1 cruel+
That way ppl can gain levels without repetition with the exception that progression
cruel-> merc is must if you want the skill points ( anyway that wont be a problem if
you outlevel them when you do it )

You use image boards. I can tell because of the use of >. The use of Greentext is archaic outside of image boards though, I'd suggest not doing that and properly using quotes so we can follow your points easier. <3 (I use image boards too btw, so that isn't a bias.)

I too get very tired of the way ARPG's, and MMO's, and any game with leveling, makes it difficult if not impossible to play with friends that are higher or lower then your level.

Haha, noted. Thanks. :)

@Exxar (races)

Yes, I have heard about that now. Seems like an interesting thing. Only problem is that you are pretty much forced to build your character one way to optimize the race speed. I guess that running some specific areas with a party must provide some very interesting experience though.

As im aware the very good players have very fast ways of hitting 60+ pretty quickly. Obviously they wont go revealing their secretes to the public however. I bet by this time next year people will have found the perfect way to rush characters to "the end game" in 6-10 hours or so. Im sure people do that now infact.. Though only a small number.

I guess it will take time, but it did take a while in D2 before players found ways to efficiently level up. Thanks for the reply!

LOL another person who wants to level easy ..

You obviously haven't read anything I've posted in the last months in this thread... Don't embarrass the community by posting such an ignorant comment.

The goal is to be able to level up in other ways than the main story-line, which would also happen to be faster (if not, what's the point?). It could be harder as well, or require a party to work, among other suggestions.

If everyone who played paid for the game, then perhaps the developers wouldn't have to think too much about its longevity, but since it is free to play, the devs need to keep you playing long enough to get invested in your character and be tempted to use the micro transaction store. They're hoping you will stick around for years and years, not just Baal run a few characters and move on.

You could do that in D2, yet it is still played today on all servers, and the main reason some people don't play right now is because of the stability (servers are horrendous) and the over-patching of the game. Diablo II was played by dozens of thousands of players all across the world at any given time during about 5 years. That's a good run I think. And you could power-level in it...

You can powerlevel pretty easily in this game, key aspects tend to be high movement speed, people giving you TPs to efficient xping zones and killing major bosses for you(they tend to take a while and don't reward you much xp wise) and using certain gear combinations to increase your killing speed a lot, such as +level to gems items on spells(or spell scaling abilities like poison arrow), flat damage and low level 5Ls.

I will have to try and test that. Thank you for the hints.

Yep, that's what I had in mind and suggested in my wall of text post above. I apologize about that and will try to refrain from posting such long and exhaustive posts.

Thank you everyone.

I also believe the leveling in this game is too slow, i think it should be way faster for characters to get lv 60 and then it would get slower, why 60? because that is the level that most builds can be consireded ready, done.
I don't know why most devs are creating restrictions to power level, in Ragnarok, for example, it was very fun, you could power level all your friends and then they would repay the service, you could even sell power level, it was part of the economy, part of the fun.
there is a way to power level, you and 1 other person go into a instance, person a is at level for the area, person b is much higher so they can 1 shot mobs.

Person B leaves party, now there is no exp deficet between being in a group with them and losing exp, and player B kills everything while player A gets all the exp.

The exp can be increased by have a 5 man group in player A's party.

Is this true?

To me, the actual time to level up a character by re-clearing the content of the game feels more like work than power-leveling, and that's the point of my thread. :)
This. Once you are on your Nth alt you just want to be to the point of having enough points to play with a new build ASAP. Grinding it out over days and days is just tedium.
I've seen people finish Normal difficulty in 4 hours, they end up in the low to mid 30's for level. I'm not sure how many times you'd need to go thru the game before you are familiar enough with the game to be able to do that though. Lots of practice and experience required.

Basically you want to be doing act areas that are within 4 levels of your characters level for maximum XP gains, at least that's what I understand is a general rule of thumb.

In cruel and merciless, there are specific areas to use to grind levels such as Ledge, forest, western forest, Docks.

You need to clear the game 3 times to finish Merciless difficulty and then youll be ready to do endgame map runs and typical arpg level / gear grinding. I think maps is probably the only way to accumulate XP well in the higher levels since the maps have levels associated with them depending on the drop. Where as whatever merciless docks level is, it won't change so you get diminishing returns farming it over and over as your level gets farther above its level.

I am glad that someone has made such a thread as this and likewise was very cordial about the aspect of this game. I was going to simply leave the game without a trace but since I found this post via a google search, I will respond to it before I take my leave of the game.

I was looking for ways to power level with my higher level characters or friends efficiently. I was also searching for ways to skip areas/acts/stories/quests so that I could be brought to higher level areas much more quickly.

The first nail in the coffin for this game for me was no full respecs. I am not hard up for how difficult it may be to perform a full respec within reason, however that said the lack of it is an entire buzz-kill for me. I currently have two rangers, one for bows and one for dual-wielding to try out both things. I also made a witch, tried something, deleted it, made a witch, tried something, deleted it, made a witch, am in the process of trying something.

That said, being on my sixth run through Normal Act I, I am sick of it. I absolutely cannot fathom doing it again. Act 2 was even more frustrating for me as having only completing act 2 twice I was about ready to just end everything there. If I could just wander and kill at my leisure in places that were level appropriate with all my previous way points, or even just letting me leech way points from high level friends it would have been a much more enjoyable experience.

I am an unabashed altoholic and as well I cannot stand commitment to a game. I have played from level 1 to 14 without ever spending a skill point because I am indecisive on what I -actually- want to do. I don't know what I want to do when I make the character. Concepts and ideas pop into my head and then change on a day to day basis. There are not enough character slots available for all the things I would like to mess around with and deleting my characters repeatedly to have space and then redoing things just to try something a bit different... the idea is like grabbing my finger-nails with pliers and ripping them off.

This game is great. I do not like it, but I cannot deny that the game itself is solid, well made, and will be hopefully a success. However, it is not for me. I am fine with this, however it is a bit disheartening as I have friends who play this game now and I am more or less abandoning them as well because, simply put, I cannot redo the same forced story quests again. It may feel like small potatoes to some but to others you must organize the skittles by color into separate bowls before you eat them.

TL:DR

Great game. Not my style. Can't respec. Forced path of replaying. Power leveling isn't just "high level friend helps." Can't bring myself to redo it. Wish you all well. Goodbye.
It would seem the fastest way to level would be to skip all zones except those good for leveling, then power level in them before moving on. So ledge, cursed shore, fellshine ruins, western forest, and docks. Also don't single target things if you don't have too, always use AOE and only kill packs of 3 or more. If you watch people streaming races they do this.
