Is there power-leveling/power-acting in this game?

The d3 forum qqer invasion has began..
Something tells me that the OP is just lazy and does not want to appreciate a good, fun game. I however will be enjoying this game for a while. I am leveling 3 toons right now. Yeah the quests are the same but the class mechanics are so diverse that its almost like playing a different game each time, not to mention the random instances and such.
I don't hand out keys to beggars. Its $10 bucks for one.....go mow a lawn or something.
As a gold supporter and a diablo 2 player I support power leveling, with small limits.
Its fun, specially makes thing less grindy repetitive and helpful since theres no respecs. Specially on a arpg where content is limited.
If not in the vanilla game, in its own leauge if not one of the leauges.

Off topic I also support, boss runs with freedom and instant acess to them with tps.

Increased trading features

Clear list of room names with optional filiters.

If you replay diablo 2 for long amounts of time, u'll know why and this will help save the game from the diablo 3 symptoms.

And if you didnt atleast try diablo 3 on diablo 2 merits then that makes YOU the less of a diablo fan.

That's fine. We don't really care. Everything's for nobody.

As I told previously in this thread, I'm not here to start anything. I was merely inquiring on a feature I think can be willfully be implemented into a game, instead of being exploited.

Oh please, most ARPGs are this way. If you just want the end-game why are you even playing an ARPG? Just play WOW or something that lets you reach max level after sneezing.

I want exactly the opposite of WoW. And WoW isn't even the same type of game...

The fact you played D3 at all makes me question your judgment :P

6 million players bought Diablo 3, and I guess a good portion of the current Path of Exile players did as well!

Anyone with experience with Activision-Blizzard (not the old Blizzard)could tell you that D3 was going to be shit, casualified, trivial, lame, insipid, WOW-like and poorly crafted

You never know :P It could have been nice, Starcraft 2 wasn't so bad really.

Part of the game of creating a character though SHOULD be how feasible it is to level said character through the non-endgame content. Overcoming various bosses with limited amounts of skills and gear.

If you don't want to play, nobody's forcing you, but the game's going to be free in about a month. So it seems silly not to try the game out, if you're a fan of ARPGs. I personally think power leveling is the symptom of a poorly designed game - why make ALL this content if you're just going to skip it all?

Why skip it? Because I've cleared it already. It bores me to death to clear content again. Some people don't mind, but I have insane memory and usually learn NPC dialogs by heart after I've heard it twice :)

So yeah, I know I may be not a "valuable player" strictly speaking, I know my place. I am just a hardcore gamer who enjoys the style of Action RPGs, but without the need to clear the content several times (maybe dozens and hundreds of time with years?). That is all.

I honestly don't know how that can be relevant to QQ. I didn't even play Path of Exile :P

I'm not here to whine about a game I didn't even play. I want to know if there is power-leveling within the game (Now I know that there is not). I guess I should be leaving now :)

Actually, it's quite the opposite. I DO want to enjoy a good, fun game. I just know exactly what I want in an action RPG, and I was inquiring if it was in Path of Exile. If I was truly lazy I wouldn't post here on the forums asking this very question. I wouldn't bother trying as a lazy person tends to play games others force them to play via peer pressure =)

Anyway, thanks everyone for answering my question truthfully and by providing insightful opinions on the matter.

You are being picky. If you do not want to play this game, then why stay in the forums? What point are you trying to make by repeatedly telling people you do not wish to play this game? You had your question answered.

As far as I know I don't need to play the game in order to post something in this thread.

Give it a try at OB, although GGG is striving against just what your asking for, I think you and your friends might be pleasantly surprised with this game.

Make characters you only level together, and others for your own time.

I must say I'm a bit surprised and dissapointed in some of the responses in this thread. Daxtreme's posts have all been reasonable and polite. The rudeness seems uncalled for...

Dax, I just played in a 3 hour long temporary hardcore League race put on by the Dev's. There were prizes for people who finished different parts of the content first, and the people who got the farthest overall along with everyone who reached certain minimum levels. It was a lot of fun. But, more to your question, quite a few people in the race were able to reach the mid 20's in just three hours without dieing once (as it was hardcore mode). That seems crazy to me as I just started and don't know the tricks but evidently once you've been around for a while you can get geared up fairly nicely using the orb system in a short amount of time. You might want to just give this a try once it releases.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Agreed.

I can see what the OP is saying, mostly because I'm kind of the same - I play ARPG's because I want to try out fun builds, not to experience the story. That being said, I still think that if you have a game that requires power leveling to make different character builds fun, the game is not doing a good job with the actual progression of the character. When I make different character builds, I want to see the progression. I want to see where this character shines and how it fare against different bosses and enemies.

In order to make the progression of a char fun (In my opinion), you need to make sure that the game has many fun parts with little down time. This means that you should avoid having quests that have boring objectives or slows down the game (for an example, a "find this small place on this huge field"-type quests that Diablo 2 had a few of) amongst other things.

What I've seen of PoE (I only played during the beta weekend) is that they do have some of the boring type quests, but usually they are very small scale and quite quick, so you don't have to waste hours opon the boring quests. Still, I have only played the game for a bit, so I don't know how it will run out.

Here's the deal though: As long as you wait for a few months (Until August, I believe?), you can play it for free. So, even if it'll only be fun to play through once, you'll be able to play through it without paying a dime, so simply trying it won't be very harmful. But then again, to each his own. If you don't want to play it, that's your choice.
I'm keeping an eye on this. The OP has certainly created a worthy thread but I find some of the topics potentially incendiary and do not want to have to act on that.

As someone who generally plays solo or with close friends from zero (I find that more fun), I can't comment on the idea of power-leveling/power-acting. I think I quit D2/LoD before encountering it all that much, and indeed it does seem something more MMO-centric to me. That said, I think if you wanted to 'rush' PoE, you likely could.

I wouldn't really think about it until act 3 is out, though.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
