"PoE2 is too difficult, and unrewarding"
The bosses are hard/ tanky, the drops are not enough, the basic mobs take too long to kill.
All true complaints. There is just some perspective missing here. GGG cannot simply "turn the loot up". The problem with cranking it up randomly is that it can go too far. If they then nerf it, it creates a disillusioned playerbase that never wants to return until the "loot becomes good again". This would create a bad foundation for GGG early in the balancing process. My belief is that GGG is starting at the floor and trying not to skip any steps in the balancing process so they can curate an excellent experience for the final product. This philosophy can be applied to most, if not all aspects of ARPG. If you design from the sky, and then nerf them to the ceiling, it makes for a game with no integrity, that the playerbase doesn't want to return to. If you design from the floor, and slowly inch your way towards the ceiling, the players not only get to experience the progression of their character, they also get to experience the progression of the game. It will be a slow process, there will be complaints (fair and unfair). PoE2 might feel "ruthless" for a bit, especially if you are not the type to seek advice. This is how it has to be, for the longevity of the game, and the health of it's balance, so that we will all want to keep coming back forever, and so that GGG can keep a game with millions of outcomes in check. Keep the feedback coming, just keep it civil, and try to remember PoE2 is just beginning and we have a lot to look forward to. Stay positive! Thanks for reading. Ruthless for a lot. Not a bit.
It’s ruthless not normal difficulty or loot drop. |
" Depends on how you see it I guess. To me 6 months - a year is just "a bit". Think you missed the point, the point being *this is the floor* and it goes up from here slowly. |
" I agree that currency drops should be buffed. I believe they will be. However, I don't want to go back to having a loot filter in act 5 because of the 700000 drops I don't want to see. There is a happy medium here. I'm sure with additional testing they will find it. But folks need to chill TFO. |
" Yeah, I've been disappointed by the currency drops. They said in promos we would find a lot of currency to slam with, but I'm not seeing much of the rare ones. Maybe a couple an act, usually from the big bad boss. Not really exciting to do Magic rarity slams infinitely on low level items you're going to vendor/ disenchant/ salvage anyway. |

im level 52 and ive found **ONE** alchemy.
ive had maybe 10 exalts, which ive used after BUYING a decent 2 mod magic item, to 'fair' results. but the 'transmute+aug' process SUCKS ASS without scours/alts. got a base, got 2 shit mods, now i need to FIND A NEW BASE?!?!?! ugh |
" No. Crafting currency could be boosted a bit, but I have all the skill gems I need. I don't even pick them up anymore. I was full rares every slot in act 2. Ruthless meme needs to die. You could say d2 is ruthless poe. Super mario is ruthless poe because nothing drops. They're different games. The argument makes no sense. |
" I think the play is to find a magic/rare base that already has good mods and just pray it slams more. I only really transmute+aug if the base itself is already an upgrade just by having stats because my gear is underlevelled. Or maybe if the base is super rare. Alchemy is rare yeah. I found 2 about the same playtime as you. 2 exalts, 1 annul, 2 chaos. |
" It is way better than ruthless loot lol. Ruthless would have one or two magic mod, the other crafted. The people that say it's "ruthless" have actually never played a ruthless character in PoE1 until they couldn't anymore. |
" Congrats, you've had extremely good luck. Now for the rest of us, yea it's on par with ruthless PoE. Also we shouldn't fix this with crafting currency, because frankly "crafting" in PoE sucks giant ass and always had been a shitty gambling game. Just drop more rares. |
