OK I give in, this is just not a game for ARPG fans

Act 5 now and the experience is much better there but I agree early game experience is horrible.

It is like PoE1, chose a strong build or suffer but here it is 50 times worse.
I agree OP
I mean I've been playing PoE since release and this is by far the best state it's ever been in. Guess I'm not an ARPG fan

I saw one of the apologists in an other thread defending the game by saying that everything is fine because he could do act 1 in 12 hours. Yeah...

This game is not made for ARPG players, it is made for something else. There is no reason to keep playing unless you really like it because it will not get any better as you progress.

Just leave. The game will either be lost to irrelevance or the devs will make very drastic changes and you will have a much better time exploring and playing the game for the first time at that point.

This is completely false. The game feels a lot like Diablo 2 in all the positive ways. It is obvious you never bothered playing Diablo 2.

If your damage is low, you gotta figure out why. When the game has been out longer and there are more build guides it will be a lot easier.

What if the reason you damage is low is that your gear sucks?
How do you address this?

You could get a good drop... oh wait no you can't
You could craft something... oh wait no you can't
You can respec your passive tree... oh wait that's 1000g a node or more.
You could equip different support gems... oh wait you don't have any spare support gems and are already sitting there with empty slots.

Guess you reroll ice sorc or one of the other 2 tolerable builds and start over. You made the mistake of trying to experiment with your build. Screw you.

Fun.

What do you mean, I've made it to act 5 on a lightning Sorc blind.
I crafted all my gear along the way, looked at no other players and am having a blast. Have I died 100+ times, yeah, but that's part of the journey for my first ever POE2 character.
I've only just bought my first item (a staff with 200mana, 100 ele dam, +4gems) because my damage is a bit weak now after transitioning to mana stacking and Mind over matter to be tankier. My build had an issue (too squishy) and i found a way to solve that (dropped dps for mana regen and went MoM). Now im working on building my dps back up through collecting mana/ int/ energy shield gear.

Stop for a sec and think about how you can fix your character. The gold respec cost is fine also. Stop gambling all your gold at the vendor for items lol.

Once im at end game and have farmed some starter uniques and currency, I will roll a second character and I guarantee you I will blast the entire 6 acts in less than 20hrs. Probably less than 12.
It's surprising that people are willing to throw away 10+ years of a company showing nothing but excellent vision and community understanding to less than 4 days of a effectively half finished closed beta because they died sometimes.

You have a closed beta badge, don't you remember what the game used to be like?

You'll always have PoE 1 where you can press a button and explode a full screen of mobs with zero skill involved.

That's what ARPG are all about, progress your character to a point where you become a god living among mere mortals, one tap and clear 3 screens. If people wanted to play soulslike there are thousand of them. Nobody is going to redo this ruthless mode every league on multiple characters trust me.

No, D2 wasn't about that. D3/D4 made the story pointless and something people rush through to get to the 'end game' where they then can complain about that

I'll tell u why it is low!! Because drop rates are utter dogshit. There is no way to craft ur gear, no way to drop ur gear. What is left? Hoping u get a 1 i 900000 decent rare item from a boss once every 10 hours? The currency drop should be increased by at least 500% !

Field bosses are fine. Act bosses are a bit tough. Use strategy and get to know their attacks. They remind me of Innocence from POE 1. "I am your god!" required you to dodge always. I would say the act 1 boss could be reduced in HP. When he went to wolf form he should have had the HP you got him to and not reset totally.

Yeah the total refill on him and the King in the Mist (in treetop village) is kinda annoying. But in reality I think what is making all of these seem harder for people is the relative player level to when you get to them in the story.

I mean I do it myself, I am just b-lining trying to get to the end. But if you take the time to farm a bit and get your gear and stats a little bit better, it would not feel as bad.

I also think this is something that they can easily tweak to make it feel a little better without removing the challenge. And I think addressing the rate at which gear/mats drop would go a long way to ease this also.

D2 was not a live service. The story was the game. There were no seasons, no leagues. D3 and D4 have seasons and have you run through the story multiple times, thus are live service games. POE2 will be a live service game with leagues and require running through the story multiple times to get to endgame. The campaign will become 2nd fiddle to the endgame and thus just an annoyance like in POE1. Do people forget that POE1 already tried the return to D2 style and switched to the endgame focus and rush since the D2 idea did not work out as well as they thought.
