There are no meaningful defensive options or interesting mechanics to layer defenses. I have evasion, that's it. If I get hit I will recover about 350 Energy Shield once every 12 seconds from Ghost Dance.

There is just nothing good on the tree really. There are way too many filler nodes.

Every cluster needs to be consolidated and trimmed down from 5-6 points to 3-4 at most.

I think it's cool and neat that you want to make shapes out of the skill clusters - for example making the ONLY STAFF NODE IN THE GAME shaped like a staff.

There are so many fucking skill point options and all of them suck. Just copy/paste the PoE1 skill tree and let us cook.

This aint it. Please please please MASSIVELY overhaul this horrible skill tree. Bring back masteries as well.

You could literally trim away 1/4 of this entire skill tree and it would be much better for it. Bring back life as well, otherwise we just stack strength to the moon and only get just enough Int/Dex in order to use our gems/gear.

The more I play this game the less I enjoy it.

Oh I can tell you. He types "cold damage" into the search box and ignores everything that's not highlighted and isn't strictly on the monk "branch' (even if it doesn't take much to reach sorc branch nodes).

Cold damage is not cold penetration you fucking dunce.

This is literally every single node on the tree that gives Cold Damage - https://i.imgur.com/yl48cqs.png aside from 2 which give cold/fire damage and Cold as Extra Fire vs Frozen Enemies.

No there aren't? https://i.imgur.com/yl48cqs.png These are all the nodes in the game expect for 2 which grant cold/fire damage.

Every single one.

There's 70% increased elemental damage like 10 levels away from monk with conditional bonus damage on freeze. I do think monk has too few basic damage nodes though, and you have to build crit more or less. Having 40% crit chance and 400% crit damage is the equivalent of just having 40% hit chance in practice.

Anyway the tree is just fine tbh, still needs some work but the other classes aren't in yet either and a lot of nodes are kind of made generic because of it.

There not being that many specific nodes is also very GOOD because it leaves more room to widen your build instead of having to focus 100% on one thing.

Passive tree seems to have been built with the philosophy that it should compliment a player's defences and skills. Rather than just having a bunch of "Get X because your damage/skill type is Y" and having tons of restrictive nodes that only work on a specific damage, skill, or weapon type, they are a lot more than are generalized and supplement your build rather than define it. They also have very interesting draw backs on some if you are able to compensate. Seriously, tell me where else you could get NINETY-TWO PERCENT INCREASED DAMAGE in just FOUR nodes than getting Crushing Verdict on Warrior side? If you get enough attack speed elsewhere, such as your weapon, or use a fast enough base, 4 nodes for 92% increased attack damage is insane; just as 60% more crit damage is insane for a couple fewer crits.

You're thinking too much with PoE1 brain. Unlearn what you have learned.
Agreed. Especially early it's a slog. As it stands now it's far inferior to it's predecessor. The symmetry is wacky, the nodes aren't interesting, not having mysteries kind of sucks and just flat out not having enough options for damage and defenses in such a punishing game where you get 1 portal in maps.
i dont think its that awful.

the weapon swap allows for some interesting stuff.

but to skill in two directions with the current UI is pure horror. you cant swap back and forth and everthing is just blinking. i can not tell a difference in what points are my base tree, what are weapon set one and what is weaponset two
