Yes, another one of those threads
The game difficulty is scaled too high, looking like 50 hours to get through the campaign. This is just way too high, I think people will burn out rerolling after the rose tinted glasses phase is over.
But this is my personal feedback, agree or disagree does not matter. The drops are very poor considering the high ceiling you need for the boss fights. I have no doubt there are some very fast people being successful but me and my friends feel like the game is overtuned deliberately to make it last longer. I think the game itself is lovely, lots of great new features and some great QoL over the previous incarnation of the game. Tons of depth, plenty of things to play around with that will keep me busy. What i am worried about is that the game will frustrate me to a point where I just no longer want to log in and play it again. When that happens it takes a lot for me to pick it back up again. Plenty of great games out there and I think this one could eventually be one of the best, just needs some tweaks to the gameplay. Last bumped on Dec 9, 2024, 2:25:45 PM

I 100% agree.
However I do wonder if this difficulty comes from a lack a player power. Once I got my character rolling some decent damage everything seems good, with 1 exception. Why does every boss have a 1 shot mechanic? For later on maybe I could see this, but for the campaign at least this seems a bit to punishing. I swear I recall an interview where they said they wanted hits to make you feel endangered and require you to act afterwards, but a one shot has no reaction. |

" A lack of player power is correct - in that the passive tree is poorly fleshed out and does not actually have enough specific damage nodes to actually use in a build. For example the only phys nodes are in the witch zone, the only DoT nodes are "ailment" only(and that means non-ailment debuffs like currupted blood get no scaling, in addition to any ground effect DoTs not getting scaling). There is also almost no nodes that are designed so that you would be useing the weapons that fit with a given classes identity, no slam or fissure nodes near warrior for example, no combo nodes near monk, even charges(which actually have nodes on the tree) do not have enough "bonus if you have spent/gained a charge" nodes. Some of the difficulty is for sure a part of the whole loot issue. You should not still be having lvl8 blue items in like act 3, that's just horrible and takes away any sense of power progression.
Also there's this weird paradox/problem of: If you get hardstuck at a boss, the only way to increase your power is to get some levels which give you max hp and at most some % damage nodes on the skill tree, and the loot is horrible so you're probably not getting any gear upgrades. You want more damage on your skills? Too bad, skill gems don't level through exp like in PoE 1. But to get higher level gems you need to be in a higher level zone, but to get there you need to kill the boss you're stuck on. See the problem here? Boss tuning feels weird imo because they must have all been tested before this last-minute flask change. The game used to have 5 flask slots, you can see people in most gameplay videos using 3 or even 4 life flasks while doing bosses. If all the internal testing was done with multiple life flasks, well its no surprise now with only ONE life flask slot that your charges just run out and the boss has no add phases(or if it does the mobs don't even give enough charges for 1 use) so you just die eventually from either a oneshot or a few small hits cus you can't heal. These bosses were all made and tested when it was assumed the player could chug multiple life flasks, but they decided to completely cut utility flasks and limit the player to 1 life 1 mana flask very last-minute before this Early Access came out. Yeah the game has nice visuals, some of the systems are good changes but stuff like the arbitrary 1 copy of any support gem limit is what ruins the fun for a lot of people. As if putting Lesser Multiple Projectiles on more than 1 grenade skill would somehow break the game in half lmao I watched a friend play through the campaign and it took him about 2 days of playing all day to get through the 6 acts. Most people will get burned out and bored by this. Eventually. Everyone has a different amount of patience but eventually it runs out. Now the player numbers look good, but if nothing changes the retention is going to be down the drain. If this game stays the same people will just quit and not care about what league its getting, because they will know exactly what the game is gonna be like. Ascension trials are also in a bad state right now. And finally, there's just so many weird/bad design decisions at every turn that feel like they're made to specifically discourage players and make them want to exit game and uninstall. Not to mention the horrible UI in some places. I mean I saw some forum posts of people literally quitting at the first zone because the first boss of the game was killing them too much. You've failed at garnering new players if that happens. You've also failed at impressing your PoE 1 playerbase. I saw another post of an entire guild of people quitting 20 minutes into the game lol Most people quit because they see this is clearly Ruthless 2.0 but with a different coat of paint and name, but way way worse than Ruthless and are completely chased off by that. And I don't blame them. Game sucks in its current state. Last edited by Toforto#2372 on Dec 9, 2024, 1:03:26 PM

" No it isn't. Post dismissed. HCSSF is the only way.

Fill the stun meter, drop the bell, boss dies. Idk what are you all talking about. If anything, bosses are undertuned, except act 1 and Balaba.

game feels boringly sluggish almost to the point of how bad it gets in those games that make things slow just so you pay to speed things up. Not saying PoE2 has those buy to progress mechanics but it sure feels like one when your trying to do it without buying anything.

People have to chill.
First time you're playing the game you're not gonna speed through it. I played act1 two times, the second one was 1/3 of the time. |

" That's not the point. The game is painfully slow and the loot and crafting are non-existent. The 10 exalts by the end of act 1 we were promised in the Q&A so we can craft our gear also does not drop. This is just Ruthless 2.0 lol, and why do you think that mode has 5 players in poe 1? |

My Feedback:
My + Story itself: wonderful Soundtrack: absolutely amazing Graphics: excellent Bossfights: 12/10 My - Item Drops: At least we need more currency to actually craft Things. Just a little bit more droprate could help, especially newer Players because the game is hard, really hard. Movement: A bit too slow imo. The Maps are HUGE and we are slow, very slow. It just feels not fine. Some Boss Attacks are nearly undodgable if you dont find some nice Boots (maybe a Pair w +15% Movementspeed Boots as a Quest Reward?) Overall: Very good for a EA Game. I have fun and i love the Game. Some Adjustments could make it even better |
