WASD feels like going back 30 years

Gotta say, i really like wasd control in poe2.
To anyone dying on bosses - try it.

I must say I would love to have a RELATIVE WASD... that means W move towards the mouse.. S away from it, etc.. Woudl be a vey nice alternative.

thats interesting.

in poe1 i dont have move only bound to left click. D3 you couldnt use move only on left click, you had to have a skill on both mouse buttons so ur forced to have it on keyboard, i out mine on W because WASD was a very natural hand placement and it felt right for W to 'walk' forward.

i played D1/D2 since launches but i cant remember my controls was so long ago. D3 i played over 1000 hours before PoE came out so i was hard wired into that control setup. I hold W to always be walking towards my mouse.

the idea of then being able to use S to walk away from it, god, that might be the best thing ever or it might fk with my directional brain too much to ever get to grips with it lol. but its a very interesting idea.

i was debating before launch do i go WASD or do i just keep it old school? WASD seems like such an advantage if you can make it work.

in the end i went rogue, got out an XBOX controller and gave it a shot. holy shit, this is it guys, ive been playing arpgs since D1 in the 90s, ive never owned a games console, pc master race all the way since i was about 10, but i got to say after trying a controller for 2 days i never want to play a game like this any other way ever again tbh. were talking 30k hours of playing arpgs over 30 years turned around in 2 days with a controller. its the future.

i dont wonder how much of the difficulty feedback is down to who is getting to grips with a joypad/wasd vs not? the ability to move and attack effectively is a gamechanger, it has to be right?
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Hades, the best game in its genre, uses WASD. After playing Hades for some time, I never ever ever want to go back to point and click.

Playing ranged feels SO GOOD FINALLY.

That's what I said, it's a controller feature, requested by console players who are used to their movestick. Of course it's a night and day improvement over using WASD keys.

However I want to use my mouse to click on enemies and loot. Don't you miss that?

I wish we could use combined of all control forms. Use controller AND mouse AND keys
.
WASD is great
I'm a PC-only Master Race enjoyer who doesn't own a controller, and I'm using WASD and loving it.

I might never be able to enjoy playing PoE1 again, because WASD is just that much better than click-move for precision mechanical dodging (not to even mention being able to use skills on the move).

It was NOT "requested by console players," I don't even know where that came from lmao

Edit/Addendum: +1 to all of this:

I wonder if any modern game actually uses WASD movement ON A KEYBOARD? To me, this is a pure gamepad feature for that precise, convenient mini-joystick. I have played WoW for many years with WASD, but the point is: No one uses A, S or D. You only hold down W and steer with the mouse. The mouse is our (PC gamers) tool of precision, doing its job with keyboard feels like using my feet.

The fuck?

While using "S/Back" in WoW was and I guess is outright bad due to walking backwards being slower, you for damn sure use A and D to strafe... What exactly is your problem?
Also... Where have you found the need for super precise movement that would be possible with an analog stick in this game?

In general you seem to misunderstand:
WoW controls are "forward, backwards, strafe left, strafe right". PoE controls are "Up, down, left, right".

What the hell are you talking about??

WASD feels absolutely amazing. Fluent, responsive, connects me much better with the character.

You have the option of mouse movement, use that one instead of bitching over something that is made extremely well and feels great :)

I have tried mouse movement, but for one it's also on rails limited by the 8 directions

I do not understand what you are complaining about as this is just not true at all. Mouse offers free movement.
