It's really easy. You just allow players to scale combat numbers up and down in a menu. This is likely even already there for playtesting. They can still balance the game any way they want, as long as they favor medium and hard. People who want it easier can make it easier by lowering or raising certain numbers. Simple.
You "hard core Gamers" really refuse to understand something so simple. So, I also ask, Again. Why? Why do you want other people to not have fun? Look inside yourself, haha. Maybe don't measure your worth by how gud you are at video games.
You entirely forgot the part about separate servers. You want every difficulty to play in the same economy? You don't think people would put it on super easy to turbo-farm and destroy the value of everything, ruining the entire game for everyone? Do you think that might happen? Because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS.
So...I want a game to be playable for the players it's made for. You want EVERYONE to be miserable just so you get to be a part of it. Don't worry, you'd end up miserable too.
You get the best stuff in the best difficutly... whats the problem?
Okay...literally arguing FOR inclusivity for like 30 minutes, then it's "fuck those casuals, give em the shit gear"?
Sounds GREAT when you say it like "best stuff, best difficulty" but we've been SPECIFICALLY talking about people who want it easier...and you're saying they should just deal with shit loot...
I think we need to stop talking and you need to breathe some fresh air.

I didn't say shit loot, i said the best loot in the best tier, it was stated about farming lower skill to destroy things no one will do that.

You really refuse to understand that not every game needs to cater to everyone.
It does in 2024 when we are in a recession and they need a lot of players to support both games. Making live games isn't cheap.

If you want trivial ARPGs, the market is flooded with games where you can 1 hit all content from LVL 1 in a linear progression and applaud yourself by doing so.
But if you're able to press more buttons than LMB only, POE2 is the game for you. ;)
I need you to tell me exactly what you would lose, by an easier difficulty being added.
I'll wait.
Content. Quality. I don't know how many things you need. If you think balancing the difficulty for a massive game...what, 400 monster types, 100 bosses, 12 characters eventually...if you think that's EASY? That's just a SWITCH you flip? Oh, and those people obviously can't play with other difficulties out of economy fairness, so that's more servers for more game types, for more splitting of the playerbase.
Then, if they NAIL the difficulty for you, whatever you want, how many people will be perfectly happy? Some will say they went too far, others not far enough. AND YOU...YOU'LL FINALLY HAVE WHAT YOU WANT, THE WHOLE WORLD HAS STOPPED FOR YOU AND NO ONE ELSE IS HAPPY AND YOU COULDN'T GIVE A FLYING...
But yeah, all games should pander to everyone. Simple.
What a complete pile of crap... they manage it in ever single game that has different levels of play, I mean literally every game and game type.

I support having two difficulty levels. Just keep them separate economy-wise and everything should be good. It doesn't have to be balanced seperately. V Rising does an excellent example of this: There is a Normal difficulty, and then there is Brutal which is exactly the same as Normal, except that every single enemy has 30% more damage and health (idk the exact percentage by heart, but the concept should be clear).

Since there are obviously very different types of players who want a really different kind of gameplay experiences, having multiple difficulties might be a good solution for that.

By trying to please everyone you end up pleasing no one. One challenging difficulty is better for strong, lasting community.

I guess time will tell what is best for a strong & vibrant game.
While I normally agree that a SINGLE difficulty setting would be better I'm not convinced that such applies here because the way GGG implemented the challenge seems to rely [solely?] on the player's information processing speed.
Cater to those with really fast processing speed and you alienate everyone else ... cater to those with slower processing speeds and "normal" gamers will be bored and consider the mechanics so simple that they may as not be there at all.
The type of balance GGG is using practically begs for different difficulty settings ... I'd say the game can stay as lethal if you mess up but allow players to adjust how easy [or hard] they want to make the "Dodge or Die" mechanics.
To me I wouldn't mind rewarding more skilled players with better drops.
If someone is worried about maintaining a satisfactory level of power on the lower end then reintroduce the crafting bench and some basic vendor recipes. This can be used to create a floor on expected equipment without over-inflating the high end of the spectrum.

But will that community size be over time. How many people will want to replay a 40 hour play time campaign to reach end game each season.
