If you want trivial ARPGs, the market is flooded with games where you can 1 hit all content from LVL 1 in a linear progression and applaud yourself by doing so.
But if you're able to press more buttons than LMB only, POE2 is the game for you. ;)
I need you to tell me exactly what you would lose, by an easier difficulty being added.
I'll wait.
Content. Quality. I don't know how many things you need. If you think balancing the difficulty for a massive game...what, 400 monster types, 100 bosses, 12 characters eventually...if you think that's EASY? That's just a SWITCH you flip? Oh, and those people obviously can't play with other difficulties out of economy fairness, so that's more servers for more game types, for more splitting of the playerbase.
Then, if they NAIL the difficulty for you, whatever you want, how many people will be perfectly happy? Some will say they went too far, others not far enough. AND YOU...YOU'LL FINALLY HAVE WHAT YOU WANT, THE WHOLE WORLD HAS STOPPED FOR YOU AND NO ONE ELSE IS HAPPY AND YOU COULDN'T GIVE A FLYING...
But yeah, all games should pander to everyone. Simple.

In ARPGs it's not a MUST to have linear progression....If you stuck farm certain areas multiple times by reseting (CTRL + Leftclick waypoint).
Farm better gear, farm more level, try new skill combinations and try again....game is super easy if played propperly. ;)
None of us need an education on how to play an ARPG. Take the elitist attitude elsewhere. The game needs a seperate difficulty, just like all the other ARPG's. If you like the souls aspect and the extreme difficulty and zero drops, thats fine, we will call you a ruthless enjoyer.
Why are you whining than if you don't need educations?....Everyone with more than 10 hours experiance in ARPGs and a little bit common sense can have an easy time here.
I'm far away from being a Souls like enjoyer or being good in such games....I didn't even get past the first boss in Elden Ring.
POE2 is far away from being as difficult as Souls game.
Don't get me wrong but game is out 2 days and the forum already full of people like you who cry that the game is "to hard" instead of farming certain areas 2-3 times to get better gear/more level and try again.

I would like to say the same. You can over level or farm better gear before finish the actually first boss in ER.
TBH, it's far better to grind in ER than PoE2. Our loot is severely scare, Movement is slow, Lack of option to craft which can result in 5-8 area run without any gain beside extra 1-2 level which is a different between getting hit for 60% hp to 56% hp from boss hit...
Don't get me wrong too, I get quite low death count here. But call PoE 2 easy is too much of protect the unpolished/unfair game.
Buff the loot and add option to craft should help quite a lot, also... less one shot from unique monster should be good. A one shot or almost one shot with restart battle, spongy boss? this ... is sad.
Slow in, slow out cuz I'm just a player.

It's really easy. You just allow players to scale combat numbers up and down in a menu. This is likely even already there for playtesting. They can still balance the game any way they want, as long as they favor medium and hard. People who want it easier can make it easier by lowering or raising certain numbers. Simple.
You "hard core Gamers" really refuse to understand something so simple. So, I also ask, Again. Why? Why do you want other people to not have fun? Look inside yourself, haha. Maybe don't measure your worth by how gud you are at video games.

Nobody plays Dustborn. Its a game where you press a button and story progresses. Also theres fighting gameplay where you can't lose, you just press one button and eventually you win because losing all health means nothing. Why aren't you playing that game? Thats the perfect game for you.

How does an easier difficulty affect you...

You entirely forgot the part about separate servers. You want every difficulty to play in the same economy? You don't think people would put it on super easy to turbo-farm and destroy the value of everything, ruining the entire game for everyone? Do you think that might happen? Because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS.
So...I want a game to be playable for the players it's made for. You want EVERYONE to be miserable just so you get to be a part of it. Don't worry, you'd end up miserable too.

I think they shouldn't add a lower difficulty at all.

Thats fine but they will loose 80% of players at least.

Entirely strawman. The whole thing.
Let's do some problem solving. It is going to be tough for you, but here goes.
Diablo gives more rewards per difficulty. It is not unreasonable to simply add a penalty to +rarity in the lower difficulty level.
Same economy, and people playing their precious hard mode get better rewards.
THINK.
