Quick heads up: Melee is completely terrible.

Warrior definitely picks up in the mid game. Currently halfway through Act 6 on warrior titan and bosses are a complete joke with perfect strike + hammer of the gods.

Trash clearing is still pretty annoying and the skills just dont feel good to play to be honest. Everything is way too clunky and unnecessarily slow. The baked in movement on over half the skills also feels bad. You don't feel in control of your character. It's often a jarring experience.

Yeah, that's exactly what I predicted when they showed off how the game would work in previews. And everyone would jump down your throat and yell, "You haven't played the game, you don't know what it's like, it will be fine!"

Reinventing the wheel almost always ends in messing up the wheel. After having played games since the 80s, I've learned to trust my intuition. I hope they go back on this design choice, but I really, really doubt they will, it's just too core to what they spent years making.

Drop 1h and shield as warrior, you'll get much more done playing 2h

early on abuse armor break synergies on default attack to deal with most trash, later you'll have sunder to deal with most enemies at range as long as your weapon is up to code

Speaking of which, every decent weapon I've had in campaign so far has come from gambling, so save your pennies for that, I've personally only hit a single decent roll from self-crafting in some 40 attempts.

For bosses, they become a lot less time consuming once you get perfect strike, until then honestly most bosses you can dodge and default attack until you get an opening/boss stun to use one of our many 1.5-3s wind up garbage skills

Once I got the hang of it, the only boss i really struggled with was the forge boss, mostly due to dps

That said... this is a slog. Playing melee as warrior at least feels worse to me than playing melee in poe1, which is quite an achievement. the slow speed and obnoxiously large maps, especially in act 2, dont help.

One thing i really cant understand is giving me 'stay in place' option, but the ranged attack still moves me forward a significant amount

This game is completely terrible. There, fixed it for ya.

I am on full-on hater mode out of being so let down... I wanted more from this game. I don't want souls games... I hate them.

Ya there is some work arounds for using skills in place but the momentum movement feels "floaty" not weighty and impactful , my hot take is melee at least warrior feels off.

poe2's movement:

oh god, you made my day sir!

lol when i first saw the new movement with wasd that scene popped up

Monk feels OK while clearing, but falls off hard in boss fights where he can't generate power charges.

And we NEED a "attack in place" checkbox on skills, like in PoE 1.

There is attack without moving just like PoE1.
Skills > click the arrow at the right for the skill > at the very bottom there is a tickbox for attack without moving

This doesn't change the fact that it'll still walk a few steps (aka ministry of silly walks) before stopping. it's a ridiculous new invention that should be removed from the game completely. It feels incredibly floaty and your char never ends up where you want it.

This. movement in PoE 2 is just baaaaad... and MILES behind the competition.
Rolly Polly Olly combat. Bad box-in with enemies doesn't help. Can't phase through enemies and at that point you get interrupted quite a bit.

This right here and what I said earlier. I switched to a 2h mace the instant one dropped and haven’t looked back since. Shield and one handers just doesn’t feel good to play. Seems more like a defensive option. Go 2h. You could even go double two handers with the keystone.
