One shot at the boss per instance

I could be wrong, but I swear they changed the wording the last time they discussed that. It sounded more like you will log back in at the last checkpoint you passed, as opposed to the exact instant of the game you were in. So logging during a bossfight would have you log back in to the checkpoint of the fight starting, as opposed to the second before you were about to be slammed to death.

Oh interesting, well for hardcore players who want to use the logout macro thingie. I'm not really familiar with it.

This thread wasn't for that though. But it's definitely something HC players might want to try once they get in the game then.
I may have overlooked it, but I didn't see a single person mention this:

Since you can now see if a map contains a boss (and only 1/4 will have a boss) map bossing is now purely optional content, rather than mandatory.

So, if you struggle with bosses, or your build needs more tankiness, just do other content until you're ready.

Also, some of us will be building chars SPECIFICALLY so we can tank everything since it's unknown; once we learn the mechanics, we can scale back defense and ramp offense.

I firmly believe (and appears GGG does too) that defenses should be valued, so if you go glass canon on completely unknown content, it's kinda on you if you have a bad time. ;)

This. They even said that u can ether focus on bosses or zooming thru maps.
If the bosses have kind of readable mechanics and not randomly oneshot you i expect we could just disengage to try again regain flasks charges in town and try again that would be ok for me. But we know nothing yet if you are under geared a normal shot should oneshot you but thats fine it means you need bettee gear.

If there is no way to disengage im afraid it could be frustrating specially if on top of that you lose exp, if the boss is not the only way to complete the map just allow me to disengage and try an alternate way with the penalty of losing some valuable loot from boss.
Meh, I'm used to this from Souls games. Only an issue if there's too much grind.

this is very good change the game is much harder its gonna be much harder to get boss items as it should be time to get good at the game people already hating on new change becuz it isnt like PoE 1 anything new=bad is your logic
Honestly really happy with the changes to maps and bosses, the 6 portal defence has gone on long enough. The same way as logout/macros have in HC.
Does the game uninstall itself if you die in the campaign?

It is clear how disengaging works in the campaign, but may need to just wait and see for maps. In campaign, taking a portal out will reset the boss HP, allowing you to try again or go somewhere else and come back later. In maps, I imagine its the same somehow. Though I do hope if you exhaust all 6 portals without completing the whole map (or if the game server crashes mid map) that it doesn't count as a failure (I assume it won't, but you never know)
Some questions:

-- Can a map boss be skipped and still not lose progression along that route?

-- If you kill a boss, can you go back and revisit that map and if you do and die, will the map now lock?

-- Does dying in a map not only lock you out of the map but also cost you experience too.

As a casual player over many years, this seems a very unfun mechanic.
