It means that the key will only unlock the possibility to start Poe2 from the steam client. Early access is unlocked for your account without a key or something, you don't have to unlock it yourself, it's given to you by GGG automatically.
So the Third party Key for Steam will give early acces for my friend if i give it to him? Y / N? :D
Hi!
As I understand it, No. The third party key will only unlock the PoE2 launcher on Steam/Epic but NOT grant access to the game itself. Your friend would still need access to game unlocked in his PoE account.
This is correct. There is a distinction between storefront client keys and early access keys. Without a client key, a player cannot add the game to their chosen storefront library to download, and without an early access key, the player account cannot play Early Access.
Where are the keys then?
Why has the key distribution stopped and when will it resume? I've been waiting for my key for several days.

So I still see my keys for the regular client, but do not see any access for the steam page yet. Just checked again only 5 minutes ago. Is this the issue on Steam side? I play the game through the steam client, and purchased from the in-game shop via steam setup, but still only see the standalone keys.

Your account is eligible for Path of Exile 2 Early Access! Thank you for your (or your benevolent friend's) support!
Your account will be allowed to log in and play during Path of Exile 2 Early Access.
i have not gotten a steam key yet to download the game.
(im not sure if there is some list or waiting time for when a key will be available? for steam library) :)

Still waiting on steam key even though my account is eligible to play POE2 EA. Wondering if there is an update on this? Thanks!

The staff has posted in multiple threads here that they are aware of the current issue regarding the Steam Key claims and that they are working on a solution. They didn't give a time when to expect it to work again, nor did they provide any information what the actual issue is. They ask us to be patient and keep an eye on the Early Access page.
While I'd also like to have more information on the topic, I'm not worried. How I understand it, in the worst case we'll have to play via the standalone client for a while until we can get the Steam keys.

I hope I can get my Steam Key early enough to do the preload and everything. For now it still says unavailable.
I would really like to use the Steam version just as I did with POE1.

Purchased POE 2 EA several days ago, also seen a message saying that Steam keys are not available now, but today refreshed the page and there appeared a button to claim a Steam key.
So keep trying guys, they're adding them time to time I guess

My post was less to do with concern, and more to report the pathing used for purchase in case that made any difference for our friends at GGG.
Had checked about 4-5 hours ago and it hadn't shown up yet (had been checking daily for it). But as of 10 minutes ago the regular Steam Key is now showing.
