The Ulitmate MELEE guide
" Yes overall higher base dmg on twohanders. But a ranged can usually afford to pick up offensive talents and gear to a greater extent then a melee. Personally I would not sacrifice all that damage just for some IIR or IIQ just because slower kills = more dmg taken which is risky unless you got some really fantastic gear to compensate. But if your going IIQ/IIR chances are you don't have that. Last edited by WickedSausage#2727 on Apr 25, 2013, 4:39:57 AM

" uh its not at all. first off a bow is a 1 hander. and they can easily do 300+ dps. a 600 dps 2hander is unheard of. infact a 450 dps 2 hander is end game and out of the "best 2 hand weapon" thread we made only about 3 out of 30 submissions even hit 450 dps. |

If a bow is a 1h how the fuck do you fire your arrows? (L33T mouth skills?)
Also if it was a 1h why the fuck does it have 6 sockets then? Where the fuck is my 6socket shield/1h ? And if u look at the base dps of a 2h axe and a 2H bow = go figure. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" very good questions. before I answer them.. let me ask you one.. do you remember we are talking about a video game called path of exile? ok now onto your questions: why does a bow that only takes the right hand slot in PATH OF EXILE and allows you to throw basically another SUPER RING+++ in your left hand slot have 6 sockets? I don't know. where is your 6 socket shield/1h? I don't know. considering they are grossly underpowered compared to a bow and its ranged survivability.. I just don't know where it is. as far as your base dps.. you do realize dps is damage per second right? you are calculating the attack speed in right? its not double. and depending on gear it could be more for a bow then a slow 2hander. but what does base dps matter when the real dps comes from the messed up elemental damage system in this game? anyhow.. just a reminder.. this is a video game.. wasn't implying real life bows only use one hand. |

Yeah so true Drakhen. A Bow might not have as high dmg as a twohander but its in no way like a onehander in damage + it got a quiver that boost dmg + up to 6 gem slots.

Play what you like. I like melee. 10k dps and 6 aps with a 5L and rarity gloves is pretty acceptable to me.
Are we referring to 1h and shield? Cuz ya they are gimpy. Go DW or 2h. DW having the benefit of block. If the game was all about which class can stack the most IR/IQ, we'd all be playing the same 1 or 2 builds Last edited by DamageIncorporated#7815 on Apr 25, 2013, 11:04:57 AM

" True, but that doesn't really justify how things are. I mean it gets silly at a certain point when some builds are so much easier then others. For example more and more totem users has begun to pop up. Thats hardly because it offers intressting gameplay. GGG is clearly encouraging these kind of playstyles while many intressting styles are kinda gimped. I actually picked the easy way out of all this. No I never went as far as rerolling something dumb and brainless. Im still melee to a certain extent. But now 50% of my DPS comes from double firetraps. A firetotem with blind also helps to keep enemies busy. BAM! all of a sudden i can effectivly grind maps solo without dying too often. It can still happen, but its far less common because i put my character less often at risks. I have even been able to sacrifice some of my gear for Magic find. from it being 20% to now 120%. Which has actually become quite noticable and map runs has become more fun. But at this point I know i would just be better off completly if i just ignored melee completly, stacked firedmg and got some ranged attack skills. But I don't wanna do that. This is a good example of how the easiest way to solve your melee problems is by going less melee. Last edited by WickedSausage#2727 on Apr 25, 2013, 3:38:59 PM

Going "less melee" is far from necessary, or the answer. For me, the answer was more IAS. and more lifeleech. WHen I traded in my cheap 6% Carnage heart for a 9% Carnage heart, the difference was huge.
And the difference between 3 aps and 6 is impossible to put into words. I do fantastically as pure melee. Endurance charges unfortunately are a necessity. If the fact endurance charges are necessary doesn't speak for how flawed melee is currently, nothing will. |

Lol! That was actually pretty funny and unfortunately accurate to the current state of the game :(
