This game has an elite rich and a very vast poor population (Currency system is broken)

Hello,

While I applaud GGG for a unique currency system like non I have ever seen, the system itself is too top heavy.

In the entire time I've been playing (Which has been over a year and a half), I have never once seen an exalted orb. In fact, for the mega rares and high valued items, I've seen the following

0 Exalted Orbs
3 Gem Cutter's
2 Divine Orb's

Before anyone slams me here, I do put a pretty decent amount of time into Path of Exile, but I am not one of these people who can sit here for multiple hours on end playing the game. (Basically this means I'm not a 22 year old kid who starts up at 8am in the morning and finishes at 11 at night).

Obviously I don't want to see multiple exalted orb's and GCP's dropping like flies, but in reality there really should be other added currency's in the game so there isn't such a large gap between the amazing orb's and the orb's that are a dime a dozen.

The valuation on these currency's are just entirely too much, and somewhat ridiculous. When I see someone wanting 30 Exalted orbs for a Lion's eye, I have to sit there and laugh, I've never even owned a single one.

Again, I'm not sitting here advocating drop rates I am bringing up a problem that really affects the game.

Seems to mirror real-life capitalist (or maybe corporatist) economics :)

I bet I could get you 50 libertarian economy professors that would praise the fairness of the system to you and sing it hymns for an entire week.

I know, and this is what bothers me. IMO there needs to be some way to get currency in game that is more meaningful.
I make vastly more gcps than I find.

Edit: also, a lot of those people, although by no means all, get their wealth from outside the game. Both RMT and botter boards. Which is sad, but true.

So here's my question. When we make high orbs more available for everyone, how should we penalize dedicated players so that they're not obscenely rich?

We could put a diminishing returns/drop bias system in place, lowering your quant a little every time you get a drop, penalty expires after X minutes. All internal, not visible. In effect "taxing" the wealthy so that the poor can get more drops. What do you think? (tongue in cheek)

I'm serious, tell us your idea.

i got a good idea to prevent this, ban every single RMT user, DDOS the fuck out of RMT sites including d2jsp. Why should i and everyone else lose all interest in the games economy/trading, things which i loved back when there was no RMT, because some cunts can only have fun with their credit cards.. Fucking take down the sites and ban every single RMT using nobhead.

This is the thing that really pisses me off this game so excuse my language.

U dont need that. Trading prices will adjust accordingly to drop rates and all i can say - 'who cares?'. Point is that with decent drop rates i can try to find best items or craft MYSELF.

Its more problem of currency for crafting (its not dropping enough for regular player to even consider using it).

Also there is diference beetween very rich top 1% and rest of playerbase living in slums and very rich 1% top and rest playerbase slowly earn they living without sacrificing real life and can have some fun with crafting and maybe even trading without buying exalteds via RMT site.

Its simple. This is this game, GGG and Alpha testers problem...

FFS....

you dont need PENALIZE anyone for playing.

Its a VIDEO GAME FFS. We play games for FUN (at least 99% of us).

If this is kind of attitude towards this game balance in alpha feedback forums i dont have any hopes that this game will be better overtime.

'penalize'... just.... im speechless tbh...

liberal*

Libertarians would tell him that's the way of the world and it's not the ruling power's responsibility to make things fair.

Why stop at a progressive tax?

I believe that all drops should be sent to GGG, and drops should be given back to the players according to their needs.

As a moderator, I believe I should volunteer to stand as an intermediary as well. You can trust me to forward all drops directly to GGG.

Do not compare with the people that can play 7x12 hours a week. Play your own game.
Who needs an exalted orb anyway. They are vastly overrated. If you compare yourself daily in RL with the uberwealthy your live is shit.

- Play solo or with friends that play the game the same way as you.
- Do not visit the forums (except for build advice or so, but it is tricky)
- Do not trade (The system is crap and you have to meet the uberwealthy)
- Do not visit the forums (I cannot emphasize that enough.)
- Create your own hapiness within the game as you do in RL.
- Last but not least.....do not visit the forums. Forums almost only contain negative threads, trolls, the uberwealthy showing their wealth, bashers, whiners and other people that make your gamelife miserable.

Good luck!!!!
