just a diablo clone?

the word "clone" has such a negative connotation to it, PoE has obvious inspiration from the dungeon crawling fun that the majority of this community has experienced in Diablo and Diablo II i see nothing wrong with trying to recreate that immersive, gritty, fun gameplay with new twists, turns, and tweaks, i most certainly will enjoy all the time i spend on it.

I agree with this
Above content may contain traces of nonsense.

Reality is simply an unrealistic version of online gaming.
i agree with drudly
I wouldnt use the word clone instead I would prefer just a casual Hack & Slay.

There ve been games arround in that genre with the same Gameplay but no isometric Graphic.
Take for example Dungeon Hack. Quite difficult. But its about killing farming Items with little Story.

I d wish they d make a Hack & Slay similar to the 4th comming. Skills arent easy to get and a lot story. A mix of hack & slay and story is what I do miss. Plus more difficulty to get skills and items so you get a more special feeling again.
Those games tend to be too easy.
Probably they fear if its not as easy like diablo costumers won´t buy it.
Good clones are needed, they bring about competition making all games in the genre better.
Pretty sure Chris made a better game with a 15 man team in 4 years then Jay did in 7 years with hundreds of people
I wouldn't say better; perhaps more familiar -- like people are saying, it feels more "D2" than D3 probably will.

Which, for D3, I'm fine with. Quite frankly, D1 and D2 are RADICALLY different games -- D3 will be following suit. Items were similar, but that's about it: there's a massive change from a single dungeon and all classes being able to access all abilities (based only on stat allocation) to a system that is open world, multi-dungeon with unique class abilities. I remember being upset about the skill tree system when it was announced for D2. It felt weird to me that my Warrior couldn't cast Fireball or Heal if he wanted to...

But it became a great game and a good system for its time (though blatant balance issues were prevalent in abilities, which they only really ever tried to fix with synergies that effectively turned abilities into passives).

So, a lot of the outrage about D3 is reactionary. And to say PoE is better? Maybe it will be, but for right now, we CAN say it's more familiar.

Its not just a clone. It's a creative remake of an Arpg like diablo. Kinda like League of Legends was a creative remake of Dota. It's in the same genre but still two very different games.

I wouldnt consider it a clone, its building off previous successes. A clone game is more like how people by the newest madden every year.

There have been tons of Diablo colnes over the years like Nox

Ok, just have to say that Nox is an arpg with an isometric view and some loot. That is pretty much all it has in common with Diablo =)

also it had better multiplayer till ea said "nah we dont like this game bye bye"
