Using my poe1 names when poe2 releases

would this be possible? or is in the works? thanks

I have actually wanted to know this too. It's probably something most people don't care about but as a dirty name hoarder I do wonder if they will transfer over, or if it's gonna be a huge scramble to get original names the second PoE 2 drops.

same mate lol ive been hoarding since 2013. Surprised they didnt take them from me honestly :P

New game with new server, so yea the character database will obviously be empty.

It'd be pretty dumb if they let you "save" your name from a completely different game.....

Debbie Downer comment but....the sooner folks start to think of it as a COMPLETELY separate entity, the better. It is NOT an expansion of this game. It is NOT connected to this game. It uses the PoE title, but its much like D3 or D4 was to D2, a successor in name only.

I actually wouldn't even be surprised if, at first, we need to create an entirely new PoE 2 ACCOUNT.

I will be kind of sad if I can't reserve my poe 1 charnames in poe 2.

it is not a debatable comment: PoE 2 is an entirely separate entity from PoE 1. Even the development staff is totally different. This is pure fact

Your comments come from a place of "PoE 1 is connected to PoE 2" when it is....not.


If they have their st together pre-launch, we won't have to make a separate PoE 2 account and this account will divide itself among PoE 1 and PoE 2 characters....but knowing GGG, who knows?

Plus....if everything is umbrella'd in one account, what happens to the "character limit" we have? Certain players (not me) have spent real $$$ buying extra character slots because they have so many. These accounts are full, how are they going to create new PoE 2 characters without a separate account?

GGG CAN make this happen, I just don't have faith that they will. But the whole "name reservation" thing makes no sense.

You can perfectly code it in such a way that your account is global over both clients poe 1 and 2, so that your mtx can be used in both. Names could be local where it is possible that one account has one name and another account has the same name in the other client.

You can also perfectly code to have x amount of char slots in both clients.

Oh I know you CAN do it....the question is WILL they do it. GGG CAN make inventory slots for: stacked decks, Kirac missions, etc. but they still haven't....they CAN fix the map conversion button in standard but they still haven't. They CAN address TS and only now after years did they finally do so.

My faith in what they CAN do, and what they actually DO do are very far apart lol.
