Death Penalty

" Sure I do, I wouldn't want people who are possibly bad at games or at least don't understand what makes a game fun and challenging over the long term (That being choices that matter as much as possible via consequences that matter) ruining one of the better games that's targeted at the niche of core gamers. Post like these need push back... I used to think GGG would stand firm but they have started pandering to casuals more recently, permanently abandoning balancing POE1, caving in on Auction house/Instant buyout, and recent interviews where they abandoned Ruthless "that ship has sailed" and talked about how they need to start pandering to popular reddit threads more... Without pushback I feel like a slide could turn into freefall. Maybe it will regardless of pushback but I'll keep it up until an alternative game is made or all hope is lost for POE to remain a core gamer game. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.

" They made an entire game mode that is harder than hardcore? |

" And as someone who plays both HCSSF and Ruthless I can tell you that is litearlly not an argument. Ruthless hardly appeals to 99.9% of the playerbase, so telling everyone who wants death penalty to stay to just go play that instead is beyond words. What a great "argument" The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" It was more of a rhetorical question than an argument. |

" So I take it you're implying that SC trade doesn't need death penalty any more because there are harder modes? This is a fair point, but one that's been gone over many times in the past. Lots of current players who enjoy the "easiest mode" (Hell I played SC trade this past league for the first time since probably Synthesis and enjoyed a bit of faceroll for some short term fun I'm not looking down on it just being real) and not everyone really wants it to become easier. Personally I would argue that SC trade is already super trivial. Players buying Magebloods in 2-3 days supports this contention in any sort of good faith argument I feel. So given that; if you guys want to start a thread titled: "we need an even easier mode of POE" I wont push back against that. But I'd say the game really needs a medium mode of the game between SSF and Trade before they go and make "creative mode" a thing and ESPECIALLY if they were hypothetically to make SC trade even more silly by removing the penalty. I could see a world where they make creative mode with no XP penalty and also actually make SC trade a bit less easy. Could also get on board with adjusting all the current modes into something resembling a sane balance curve. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.

"Clearly this topic does interest you, which (on top of it being specifically a response to someone else) should indicate that the comment wasn’t directed to you. |

" You must recognize that countless times on this forum that kind of logic is used to try and tell people with counter opinions to not disagree so my assumption and reply is pretty understandable I think. I honestly have no problem with POE having a creative mode as a solution to many of these issues... in fact I think it would be a boon for the game, My Kid kinda hates POE because its so thirsty for time/effort/wiki memorization and he heckin loves Minecraft and Terraria modded/creative mode play. If I meant “don’t disagree” I would have said that.
