Stop acting like OP is saying something weird. Main PoE and current Ruthless are polar opposites. Main PoE absolutely showers you in loot and XP, while Ruthless gives you almost nothing. Wanting a version of the game that sits somewhere in between isn't a strange opinion at all. I bet a large amount of people would love that, even. Much more than the current Ruthless playerbase.

That was actually reassuring to hear, because I too had the same experience as you had. Loved the idea of Ruthless and less item drops, but they simply took it too far. What I experienced was lack to actual content, and extreme map scarcity blocking progression. Going through the campaign on a 1-link was interesting to say the least, but after hours of not really getting anything done in maps, I eventually gave up on Ruthless.

If they alter the balance a bit better, I think it could be a really interesting game mode. But right now it's too punishing in my view.

(I'll just ignore all the usual hot takes from people who have never played Ruthless)

At the fan meetup in Summer in Cologne, I talked to Rory (I think it was) and that I also thought that Ruthless was a good idea per se, but that all the points I mentioned earlier in this thread combined made it, well, too Ruthless for me to enjoy.
But it is what it is. Seems like there are people who like it as it is, so let them have it.

What people keep forgetting is that Ruthless isn't made for everyone to enjoy but a select niche group of players who enjoy extreme item scarcity. I know it's easy to judge based on your personal preferences but it's good to remember that fact

Yeah I agree the concept of hiding all support gems and building defining gems which shouldnt even be called supports (ballista totem is not the same as +20 more damage support) is terrible, but thats what Ruthless is.

You cant say its better than regular then also terrible.
That's why I don't play it.

I've used hardcore mods in games like Fallout series and Stalker series and those were hard.

But ruthless has some arbitrary choices that make no sense to me.

This game is an action rpg after all, not a survival game where you need to count your bullets.

Play SSF, OP. It's challenging enough without being unfair
