maven's invitation activation

I have two maven's invitations, one of which I purchased from kirac.
But I cannot activate them. I get the error message: not enough bosses witnessed.
But when I fill up the counter with 10, I get a new invitation.
So why are these invitations itemized and tradable if they are linked to a boss count which drops another invitation? Or am I missing the obvious?

So why can't I run the invitations?

Because the boss count only drops another invite the first time.

You get quest invites before she'll witness 10 bosses, and the first time you witness 10/10 she'll drop a guaranteed invite. After that, every invite drop is down to random chance.

I think I get it, thank you.
Are you saying I have to witness a couple more until again 10, because now this isnt the quest version, and then I can run the 4-5 invitations I have in my stash without having to constantly go from 0 to 10 views again?

Always need to get the 10 witnessed.
Just that you might not get invitation drop

Nope.

Those bosses are like a resource you have to spend in order to do the invitation and you need to witness those bosses over and over again for each invitation.

Um ok thanks, but if that's the case, why can we buy invitations from Kirac or other players?
If I need to witness 10 to be able to run the invite, and if after witnessing these (or even fewer -- I've had yet another one drop on me just now) an invitation drops, then I will always have more invitations than I can run ...? What am I failing to understand?

Invitation drops are RNG based but you can witness whenever you want, except when you´ve already "stored" that specific boss.
So you cant build up a pool of say 3 witnessed Shapers, its always going to be capped at 1 Shaper and then you either "consume" that witnessed boss in an invitation or its going to sit there forever.

Basically, you want to get rid of witnessed bosses as soon as you can but you cant guarantee an invitation drop to do it.

Also the only reason to do it would be farming Maven Writs to fight her and the 10-way bossfights are notoriously bad for that purpose.
Any of the other invitations do drop way more and speed up the progress towards Maven significantly but are also much much harder to do.
