Farming labs for transfigured gems just sucks. Please rethink this.

I know all of the "solutions" and how it's supposed to work, but sometimes it just doesn't. Sometimes "RNG" just doesn't go your way.

For an actual skill that works very different than the original (not like the old alt versions), it shouldn't be this hard to find the gems you need to play your build.

One of the nice things about buying gems from Lily, is that if I'm planning a build I can buy what I want to try out just to see if it even works in the first place. But Gatekeeping these gems behind hours of farming just to find out if they are even worth using is really lame.

I've spent literally 7 hours straight today trying to farm a single gem and received the same Wrong version of the gem about 6 times. Yes I did run some in merc lab because I don't have endless goddess tokens. It's really bad when the gem has multiple versions.

I did run a hand full in uber lab to end up getting the same wrong result from BOTH choices. For the love of god... at least put in some kind of failsafe so that you don't receive the same exact fail you got on the same trip twice in a row. I get that this game is a virtual slot machine but at some point it's just so damn frustrating to do the simplest crap that I want to just quit and do something else. Which is sad because PoE is generally one of my favorite games of all time.

If you don't want them to be purchasable I get that, but don't gate keep them behind the one mechanic most people who play the game absolutely hate. We all have to do lab to get our ascendancies so we put up with it but farming for hours on end just destroys the fun entirely.

There just has to be a better way.

Edited: I have now run this for another hour and a half and have received the same wrong version 2 more time. THIS IS NO LONGER FUN.

To be completely honest, if you're playing SSF you have to deal with these problems. That's the whole point of that game mode. What sucks for one player is fun for another.

Back before uber lab was changed, I'd go for weeks in ssf without finding all the trials needed to unlock it. So I'd plan accordingly and play a build that would be okay without the last 2 ascendancy points.
SSF problems lol

Not an issue.
Dys an sohm
Rohs an kyn
Sahl djahs afah
Mah morn narr
It is awful design; I'm baffled they went with this. Very much looking forward to a clean slate not hung up on old patterns (well okay, that's unrealistic; let's say less hung up on old patterns) in POE2.

Why do they insist on trying to get people to repeat the labyrinth in the first place? It's not like it's not seeing play; every character does it four times already, that's plenty.
Sunk cost fallacy at play.

"Damn, we put a lot of work / time / money into lab, people hate it, what can we do?"

"How about making it semi-required for a relatively large part of the itemization?"

"Like with the enchants?"

"Worse! MUCH worse!"

"How much RNG do we want to make it REALLY bad?"

"Yes."

Sure but now you're saying don't plan to play over 100+ gem builds because I can't find them? No.

Yes SSF is a game mode that is generally harder...but pretending that anything that happens in SSF is just "tough shit" is a really dumb idea. Sorry, not buying it. I've been playing exclusively SSF since Metamorph.

I don't consider this an "SSF" problem. It's just a bad idea period. You can't league start half of the game now because gate kept behind grinding lab for hours? That's kind of insane.

If nobody in trade happens to have one for sale is it still an "SSF problem?"

You can't league start because of one specific transfigured gem in Lab u can't get - what?
What kind of build/skill is this?

All gems are super cheap on trade - there's no gems for 10-15 Divines each, like helmet enchants on good bases/uniques before change.

The most expensive gems are around 150c, others good ones mainly 20-50c.

My Lab conclusion as trade-league player - that its almost useless now.
Gem are easy to get(color choice),there's a lot of them on trade, final rooms troves - rewars are joke compared to usual maps/heist and so on.

In previous leagues it was possible to make some good Divines stack from keep grinding expensive Helmet enchantments - but now they gone...

As for SSF player - it also pretty easy to get gem u want.
Specific color choice safes u alot of time, plus not all active skill gems have alternate version (auras,Links, temporal Rift,Snipe, Ambush, phase run and others - dont have transfigured version).

Its a matter of time when u will get one - if u build can fast run lab(~10 labs hour), you will get your desired gem in 1 day easily.

It's much

much

MUCH

easier to get a specific transfigured gem now than it ever was to get a specific alt quality gem before, which was already an order of magnitude easier than a specific helmet enchantment.

What even is this thread complaining about? I have been successfully target farming frenzy of onslaught gems all league, so I refuse to accept that you can't pull it off ONCE even in SSF.

... UNLESS of course you aren't running the uberlab? But surely you know that you need to be in the uberlab for the "transform a gem into a transfigured version of the same gem" enchantment? It would be reeeeeeeeeally embarrassing to make a post claiming you "knew all the tricks" if you were trying to do this in like the merciless lab or something...

Bolded, italicized, underlined, and colored the relevant bit of text in the OP.

Judging by the fact they're struggling with offerings, it's safe to assume they're likely SSF. I can't say I sympathize with OP, they made the game harder for themselves than it already is by opting out of trade.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

Thanks Pizza, I did genuinely miss that part.

OP: if you need more offerings, go Delving. They still drop like candy from the generic treasure chest nodes, so you don't even have to track down any cities or go very deep.
