Since many people seem to be bothered much about the Void mod on Valdos Puzzle Box maps

I really dont understand how afraid you all are...

You seriously act as if players were

A: the most cruel beings in existence
and
B: the most stupid naive beings in existence
at the same time...

so... when it comes to griefing...
and lets be serious about this please.

How often do you enter maps of STRANGERS?
Because, i dont know about you, but if griefed anyone of my guild or friendlist, oh boi, i'd have signed for a "fun time".
So, that is rather unlikely to happen, we can agree on that right?

Now, let's actually think of what happens in a strangers map...
Yes, Cast on Death is potentially a good argument when used with link skills.
BUT, anyone with a brain ever so slightly less smooth than an eel, would not link a complete stranger.
Also, i hardly believe the whole Samatarian talk that people keep bringing up, when i look at trade, that people hardly ever leave their map for anything below 10c... yea, i dunno, somehow have a hard time believing people helping out stangers that willingly.

oh, and also, the argument of "people should do check, but they dont"...
isnt that kinda... well... dont even know how to say that without getting in trouble...

Just do a risk-reward-doability evaluation, and act accordingly.
And just in case you overestimated your (builds) capabilities, take responsibility for YOUR actions, instead of blaming the player who submitted the map.
And dont make up stuff like "Losing a character with THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF PLAYTIME"...
This kind of stuff invalidates itself as an argument...

Example:
Player gets a map with the void league mod.
Player does not know what void league means.

Option A:
Player looks up what void league means.

Vs.

Option B:
Player puts the map in, dies, posts on reddit how shit the game is.

I think we can hard agree that Option B, at least in a stereotypical way, seems to be the rather likely outcome.

It is not about being afraid. The simple fact that it is possible outside of pvp to lure players into a trap and delete their entire character is not the kind of mentality most people agree upon. They don't want that and they don't want to share a community with people like that. Very understandable.
Agreed upon pvp with consequences like perma death is a different story. But to lure a helpful nice dude, who spent 100 hours+ on their nice build and is no ready to give some advice to newbies and help out, into a trap like that is just malicious, nothing else. What an enrichment to the gaming community.

Okay, Why then softcore exist? Why not just remove it entirely? Play only Hardcore, you know?

Hardcore exist for you to play more competetive, when you have punishment for being anaware of \ not gitgud \ doing somthing that you not cappable of

Softcore exist with SAME rulles, same conteten and same balance, but you can actualy mistake. You would not get game quited for not being good, you can have fun and expirement with things.

And now they release actulay realy interesting things, maps with so fun to explore mods and possibilities, but only for hardcore. Fun isnt allowed.
I want to play those maps, but why my opinion on how to play: casualy or not is now ignored?


Also for argument about this map being optional content.
Show me the list of non-optional content? Is it uber bosses? Is it only act 1-10? Is it launching the game and siting in main menu?

Its not about how hard this, i actualy think i cappable of most of this cards.
Its not about reward, i have enough resources to buy stuff on trade
Its all about the fact the fundamentaly softcore is place to experiment via trials and errors, not bein for top 1 only best playerbase.

you quite literally have proven the fear aspect...

the whole "send to void upon death thing" reminds of one thing i read back in university, latin class.

basically what it said was: "man is a wolf to man"

or a little bit more decorated.

If a wolf meets another wolf at night in the forest, it basically "thinks":
oh shit, another wolf! sup dude?

but if a human meets another human at night, in an alley or something, they basically think: "oh shit, a murderer"

these submitted maps wont all contain the "send to void" mod
and many wont even have good rewards (friend of mine actually submitted a terminus est with send to void... who the f*** runs that)
if you enter a strangers map, read the mods, if it is such a map, put them on ignore, easy, problem solved - potentially even report them (character and account name) to tft, to ACTUALLY help others.

Yes, there will be cases of griefing...
but it will be, optimistically thinking, the same shit as with the six link scammers...
you fall for it once, and never again, sure it hurts more...
but with all that awareness caused...
just dont rush stuff with or for people you dont know, easy...

And either way, dont run and preach doom and judgement day, when literally nothing has happened yet...
some awareness, okay, fair enough...
but we survived 2012, so we should endure that as well, lol

Playerbase is human, first and foremost. Humans make mistakes, they can be tired, distracted, and certainly shouldn't have to treat a videogame as life and death matter, unless they selected it themselves outside the game, choosing hardcore league.

If clearing 1 map would have been meticulous process for 30+min, and it brought enough loot to not measure your maps in hundreds for progression, yours would be a valid point. Poe as it is encourages grinding more and more and more for the one tiny speck of good loot across dozens of maps, 99% gets filtered out.

In this situation, it is normal to stop paying much attention to both map setup process and composition of every mob pack you meet.

To be fair it is much less likely that someone falls for it asuming you can read the portal and see that this is a portal to a valdos map. But clicking on stuff without reading happens and in softcore there just shouldn't exist such a thing that even has the slightest odds of deleting one's character.

uh, sure you dont lose your character, but a bricked map is a bricked map.
whether it corrupted mods you cannot run, or you have harsh mods + send to void...

i mean, who knows, maybe GGG wants to cultivate and train the players to not 100% brain afk alch and go maps... mindlessly throw away xp, or just to slow down the game... who knows

I saw a lot of posts complaining, most were not really constructive to be honest, asking for straight up removing the mod, while also claiming they dont even care about the reward or the foil or whatever, which means they totally could skip that kind of content, yet they posted complaints about that mod, so either completely "white knighting" for others, or straight up lying about their FOMO? hmmm...

but I sort of (SORT OF) agree, that voiding your character because of some autopilot mapping and the "OMG I CAN GET A WURMS MOLT / MEGINORDS GIRDLE IN THIS MAP (obviously sarcasm)" could cause some blindness.
Yet again, i think that greed and being brain afk should bear punishment, just potentially not THAT much of it...
dunno, sitting on the fence, but i'd say adding that confirmation dialogue would meet some middle ground...

AND I WANT TO STRESS OUT THAT THIS IS THE ONLY MOD WHERE I WOULD SUGGEST AND SUPPORT THAT THOUGHT OF ADDING EITHER COLOUR CODE OR CONFIRMATION

That is literally how it is implemented. The whining has to stop at some point.. this stuff is completely optional after all

As with most forum outrage, most of it fails at basic adolescent critical thinking or investigating.

RF patch notes(still works as a build), Rf mana trans gem(better than the previous RF), trans gems being useless (many are being used even on the leaderboards) , Void mod whining, league mechanic being too hard after 3 nerfs (no your build is just bad and you empower too much)...


Good entertainment is all it is.
