Since many people seem to be bothered much about the Void mod on Valdos Puzzle Box maps

Isnt it possible to add some sort of Dialogue upon opening a map with that mod?

I saw a lot of posts complaining, most were not really constructive to be honest, asking for straight up removing the mod, while also claiming they dont even care about the reward or the foil or whatever, which means they totally could skip that kind of content, yet they posted complaints about that mod, so either completely "white knighting" for others, or straight up lying about their FOMO? hmmm...

but I sort of (SORT OF) agree, that voiding your character because of some autopilot mapping and the "OMG I CAN GET A WURMS MOLT / MEGINORDS GIRDLE IN THIS MAP (obviously sarcasm)" could cause some blindness.
Yet again, i think that greed and being brain afk should bear punishment, just potentially not THAT much of it...
dunno, sitting on the fence, but i'd say adding that confirmation dialogue would meet some middle ground...

AND I WANT TO STRESS OUT THAT THIS IS THE ONLY MOD WHERE I WOULD SUGGEST AND SUPPORT THAT THOUGHT OF ADDING EITHER COLOUR CODE OR CONFIRMATION

The "void" mod offends me at a fundamental level.

If you want your characters to permanently die you can choose to make a hardcore character.

Putting *hardcore* as a barrier to content in softcore is just asinine.

I have no interest in hardcore even if the servers were truly reliable. I typically enjoy throwing myself at content I'm not sure I can succeed in.

This is GGG's fresh "not for you" gaffe that doesn't even make any fucking sense.

it is first of all being players responsible for choosing that mod to begin with...
you cant blame a weapon manufacturer for people getting killed by their weapons either.

It is the player who will have to take responsibility to check the mods of the valdo's map. Slowing down the player is something they try to introduce for quite some time; think immunities in expedition, reward selection in ritual.

Regarding pking from trolls. If you decide to help someone and portal into an unknown map, there is a grace period (as long as you dont move) to check the mods. If the mods are too extreme, just portal out. And this is something you should do for all maps.

as i said in OP, i am sitting on the fence on that one, but i would say it would cause less trouble while providing just a bit of a safety net.
i personally dont like the idea of fool proofing the game at all, yet sending a character you invested a couple of mirrors to the void, because you had a dc or ggg servers kinda shit themselves is not cool either.
plus all the forum and reddit posts about people losing their characters due to hastely opening the map...

we all know how the poe playerbase works...

i honestly think that you should take a proper risk (in most cases, for most builds) if you want player power that is in comparison fairly easy to obtain.
we're talking about a GUARANTEED DROP if you succeed...

and then again, it is still 100% OPTIONAL CONTENT, if you dont like it, skip it.
do you complain about what things you can buy on amazon that you are not interested in? do you try to cancel certain products that you are not interested in? dont think so, you just move on.

I think with good preparation there will be no issues.

All you need is a charcter that can't die and can handle really long lagspikes.

Call you ISP the day before and ask for priority cus your about to play a video game and it's very important to you.

Notify GGG aswell in timely order and make sure connection is uncorrupted.

Make sure you OS doesn't decide to run an update while in map. Best call Bill beforehand and let them know.

After all reading the mapmod is by far the hardest part and once you managed to accomplish that your basically golden gamr.

nowhere has it been explained to every softcore player that there is now hardcore in their league. they have no idea what is on the line, they have no clue that by not reading a map mod they dont risk 10% xp they risk their entire character and all their gear.


people run around on lvl100 characters and dont give a shit about map mods.

"you should check..." no, people dont, and they have no idea that they risk their character. zones can lag out, a zone on a server on the other side of the world can cause ridiculous lag and zoning times. every time i zone into a zone right now for some reason it takes forever to load and when i actually see the map and my character and ive sitting on a load screen listening to my golem fighting monsters right on top of me for seconds before i can even see the game.

People opt in in softocore format so they can practice or play any content knowing there is free space for mistakes, people want to try content to see if it doable for them or not. Now to try contetn you actualy cant play coz now you are forced to play in uber-hardcore.

I can shut my teeth and just acept that content now created for HC player and streamers, and this is optional. I can parry this argument with the fact that entire game is optional. You can not leave lioneye watch on act 1 on HC if you dont want to die. You just can not play the game. Is this is same? Like, its still optional to play the game right?

More to think - this is precedent. Next uber boss is Void gated? Next t18 maps gonna be "we ban you account if you take damage"?

Im okay with hard chalanges like Original sin sanctums.
You opt-in, and if you lose, you lose only the part you opted-in. Like the cost of the relic and time doing it.

You opt-in map you not sure you can't do? (8 mods 5 orbed or somthnig like)

Okay bro, you lose a couple of thousands Hours of play, you entire character you carefuly build, all of you gear that makes 80% of all resources you have, also you need spent another 9999 hours gathering its back and leveling.

This is not soft-core.


And yet, there are still solution to this. You still want Void-punnish player to make map Dangerous? Just make Void for time? like 1 hour \ 24 \ 72 etc

Do you get punished to fail? yes. Do you lose in one way all? no.
