[Possible Solution found!] Patch 3.22 Performance Issues

I'm running the game on an older rig (i5-6500, 1060 GTX, 16 GB ram, Win 10 Home) that used to be able to run it on low setting without any problems at 25 fps through Amsterdam with no lagspikes or ingame stutter, much less overworked CPU or GPU.

After the patch I'm at 15 fps, constant lagspikes and ingame stutter, longer loading screens for areas and towns, besides having died so many times to mobs and bosses rubberbanding, delayed spellcasting/unresponsive button pushing, telegraph markers on ground not showing up, just to name a few.

Something is seriously borked up with the game after the "preformance enhancement"-patch, and GGG seems to be at loss on how to un-bork it back to a playable state.

I find comfort in that I am not alone. Currently installing a Steam downloaded version to see if this helps in any way.

Shaders aren't being remembered as they are consistently downloading each time you load the same zone over and over. The lag and jitter is ridiculous to the point where the game is unplayable.

Exactly this.

No matter how many times I enter a zone, use a skill, monsters use skills, flask, vendor, ANYTHING, the shader garbage is freezing my game for milliseconds up to several seconds. So the explanation from GGG in one (yes, one response) of the threads here saying that people have to load shaders into their cache again with the new patch is absolute bollox. It's not working properly. Game is unplayable.

Dynamic Resolution/Culling isn't working properly either. Something is terribly wrong with this engine update. Even people with high-end rigs are experiencing issues with overheating hardware and terrible FPS in a game that should run even on low-end machines. Like...what the hell?

We are now at day 4 of the league and literally NOTHING has been done, not even a statement from GGG. It's driving me up the goddamn walls seeing how everyone here is seemingly being ignored. This part of the forum is a black hole it seems.

My cpu is hitting 60+ degrees C each time i play now, and that is with fans set to Extreme, Icue software driving me insane as i have the cpu cooler block set to Temperature, and it is constant RED, I'm paranoid my pc gonna blow up lol, it was at around 40 max before. also every other zone stutters when first entering.

Intel 9700k
32gb ddr4 ram
RTX 4060ti

60° for a CPU is actually quite low while playing PoE. You should be fine. Multithreading on the new 13900k would get you to 98° sometimes. My 7900X and 7800X3D can reach 80° and even with a 360 AIO and heavy case cooling.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

This has helped MAJORITY of my issues. Follow the steps. Had to re-do the AHK part but that was about it. Much easier to follow over the other guides out there.

This is somewhat making the game playable again.
Experiencing the very same thing. Extremely long load times. Especially going back to the towns. Takes at least 30 seconds every time to show back up in town.. Never had this problem before.

View the above posted thread and go through it. A bit tedious, but definitely more doable than other threads. Helped me out a lot.

Sorry, but this is NOT a solution. It is a bandaid at best for a broken update. And not only that, but you are actually putting your system in hypermode and possibly risking a complete system failure. I would highly recommend you do not do that, especially if your computer was expensive.

As mentioned in this reddit post, this can drastically increase your CPU temps and power consumption, which can absolutely fire back at you if used in a game that is running on a completely broken update that is already straining your CPU as is due to its many problems.

Again, this is NOT a solution for the root of the problem, and so I'd consider removing it from the title if I were you.
