Make standard characters matter!

Of course OP suggestion is never going to happen, but at least I could point out that it isn't because temp leagues are fundamentally "more healthy design", "higher form of art", "fresh economy", etc. All this is secondary. Standard easily could have had greater percentage of the community than now, if only GGG paid more attention to it.

Yet what GGG wants first and foremost is a bigger hamster wheel to put you temp players in. You spend more time in the game regrinding and recrafting, and they get extra sales from it. This is perfectly reasonable from business point of view, and dedicated temp players could have stopped putting arguments about league design and art to the front. They are brought here to beta test GGG's new mechanics and to buy new supporter packs.

And I can hone my trol.. debating skills by seriously supporting great heresy like allowing std characters into leagues :) So far no one explained what exactly is so terrible in allowing that in a very limited fashion, other than potentially harming the hamster wheel business strategy.
