Predictions for ExileCon/PoE2
" Wouldn't be quiet unlikely. Also the current core support packs are pretty much almost done with their year of existence. Kinda gives me the feeling that 3.22 might introduce one or another 4.0 aspect or change and the core packs end up a 4.0 core packs. I really hope it's not yet another fire themed core pack tho Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Jul 28, 2023, 3:20:56 AM

" " =0[.]o= I'm looking at this from the long game perspective. GGG announced the skill gem changes three plus years ago, so they've had a LOT of time to polish them. However, being a fundamental change to a core game mechanic, does it really seem likely that they would fold that into the PoE II drop, which they would obviously prefer to be as smooth as possible? Best to make the skill gem change a major, independent event, so that the subsequent PoE II Beta can focus on all the other new and improved elements without the very nuts 'n' bolts of the game being affected at the same time. Your mileage may vary. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

They will announce that those new shapeshifting skills are a broad category of skills, not just the announced werecat and wolf, those are the dex shapeshift skills.
We will also get str shapeshift skills like bear or golem and int shapeshift skills like lich and goatman shaman. All of this is speculation but I believe shapeshifting will be an entire category of skills. |

Once the game releases they have to fill each quarter with a new league. That system is likely to change in terms of the content and style of each new league to reduce future bloat.

I don't think we're getting the PoE2 skillgem system this league. That feels like a core, defining piece of Path of Exile 2 that they'd hold onto for the release of the proper game, whenever in the dead gods' names that is. I can see the logic behind releasing it early to be sure, but it'd also take so much of the wind out of the sails behind PoE2 for them to release the new skill system independently of the actual redux.
Remember, Grinding Gear made similar "you won't wanna miss this league!" noises ahead of Heist, as well. They may just be proud of the 3.22 league, which feels a little weird given how much they've been grinding on PoE2 instead. She/Her

" I agree with this. Even though Chris mentioned (Exilecon 2019) that we'd see some "PoE 2 content" be added into the game before the release of PoE 2, they still need "the big guns (mechanics)" to be the main draw when PoE 2 releases. And as I see it, the new acts, the new models/animations and the new skill system are the "big guns". That might just be me, though. Only 7 hours to go. I'm noticing a sense of excitement. Probably too much for a middle aged guy to have over a video game. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Yep.
"PoE2 Content" added to PoE1 are things like the PoE2 map tile sets for some of the obviously-from-PoE2 endgame maps like Frozen Cabin, Crimson Township, or that one loopy backtracky graveyard map nobody likes. The bitsies where the map boss actually has voice lines and also tends to be mechanically denser than "big monkey bonk w/stick". A lot of folks suspect the Skill Mastery system on the passive tree was also a PoE2 innovation that got backhacked into PoE1, and I could see that. But the game-shaker changes like the new skillgem system, the new weapon types (which in at least one case completely rely on the new skillgem system, crossbows), key components of the next game? Those will be saved for whenever the bloody banana monkey hell Grinding Gear decides to actually let us have PoE2. She/Her

" ...And a lot of assets in Heist league, from the NPC models, to the new chat boxes. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Dude the eagles ain't coming...let it go. It would be nice if they could though... Still failing to solve "The Riddle of Melee" 4.0 HYPE!!!
SILLY BITCH...THE EAGLES ARE COMING!!! THE EAGLES!!! (bleeds out from a wound to the gut) the eagles...are...coming...(coughs)...the eagles... |

Melee may well be indirectly improved by other systemic changes even if there's no direct melee fix. New animation systems could make it easier to Do Melee. Though as is always the case when the subject of FIX MELEE comes up, I gotta ask: how do you envision Grinding Gear being able to balance walking up to one mob, clicking on that mob to bonk it and kill it, then clicking on the next mob to bonk it and kill it, so on and so forth against...well, literally anything else?
