Predictions for ExileCon/PoE2
" If they can't even apologize.. they don't deserve my support for another 10 years. Everyone else is quite a broad statement, Do you think i was the only one investing in exalts given the fact that nobody would accept anything but pure ex back then. Do you have any idea how much most legacy race skins for example cost these days? or how long it might take to farm that much currency without resorting to less than desirable behavior? You're not buying it with random legacy items, you're buying it with pure. Innocence forgives you

Yeah, the core system of loot generation will probably stay more-or-less the same. They still have to (somehow) ensure that billions of existing PoE1 Standard items are reasonably intact, after all. But we may well see new/changed item slots, new types of items. Or maybe they'll have a system of conversion for the old stuff and we really will see a whole new itemization system. I doubt it, but then again nobody saw PoE2 coming either.
Heh. Well, frankly? The only thing I'm certain of is that I'm going to be wildly off target for whatever the final bombshell turns out to be. They shot so many Gamechanger Bullets last time that it's honestly hard to imagine what else they could possibly do that'd be worth an ExileCon The Second reveal. She/Her

Well my predictions are:
1. The endgame revamp will happen in 3.22. There will be no endgame updates with PoE2 itself. Reason: 3.0 and exilecon 1. When 3.0 launched, there was no endgame revamp with it. They had enough on their plate without radically changing the end game systems. During the last exilecon, they announced 3.9, which had very meaty endgame changes. They’ve said 3.22 is not a league to miss and exilecon requires big announcements (the league reveal should be big too!) 2. 3.22’s league mechanic will be something akin to legacy league - a celebration of past league mechanics. The fact that exilecon is happening means PoE2 cannot be that far out, probably beta will happen within the calendar year and there’s a strong argument to have another legacy style league as the final PoE1 league. The counter argument to this is atlas tree + scarabs have severely limited the possible design space here - but I think they can figure something out. 3. 3.22 will be the last PoE1 league, with the PoE2 beta starting around October/November. 3.22 will run as long as it takes just like legacy league did prior to the 3.0 launch. These are of course, mostly based on what happened in the past. GGG may not have liked how things went with the 2.6->3.0 transition or the 3.9 endgame overhaul in the last exilecon. They may do something entirely different this time. |

I always take "You won't want to miss [X] league" from Grinding Gear with a grain of salt. I mean, in their view all leagues are "leagues you won't want to miss". They don't exactly deliberately set out to make low-effort dodgeball leagues that give you a chance to take a breather and not stress over PoE for a while. We'll see if 3.22 is really all that and a bag of chips.
Given that Bex specifically stated that PoE2 was nowhere remotely ready for release and we'd have to wait a long time for it, I'm despairing of seeing anything within the calendar year. People keep saying "You can't maintain a hype train that long, if they're hyping it they HAVE to be close!" while forgetting that they blew the rails off the Hype Train in ExileCon the First...and then went radio silent for four entire-ass years save for one single touch-base in the middle. They can hype-and-ditch, they HAVE hype-and-ditched, and they will likely hype-and-ditch again. Sad as it is to see. She/Her

Great thread.
GGG has to reset the game for the next 5-10 years of upcoming new leagues/content. ATM it is full of ten years of adding stuff. I'm sure they have been planning both for POE2 launch and the following 12 months of new leagues. They plan and work at least months in advance, if not years (in terms of game direction and planning). * Passive tree will be simplified to make room for new things coming later. Items there will find new homes elsewhere. (weapon trees?) * Old league content will be integrated into the basic game * POE1 Acts reworked to 6 or 7 with lots of new art (to match new Acts) * Weapon trees kept in some fashion * New character models all around * Crafting rework * Killing monsters with weapons will, over time, add or improve their mods * Loot storm drops curtailed * I'm nervous about how they will change melee * Beta begins in August * Game release by Christmas "Gratitude is wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk." Rumi

" A red herring! This is the time and the place for POE2 to be revealed and the release announced. If they don't do it this weekend, when will they do it? Next year? The next ExileCon? Later makes no sense since they are getting hundreds of folks to fly to NZ. That is a very big deal and GGG will want to reward them mightily. I think Beat tickets will be given out at the con. Oh, we'll get all the reveals and stuff, sure. But Bex wouldn't have gone out and spiked everybody's applesauce if they had any intention of releasing the beta or the actual live launch any time within the next millenium. Sadly.
