Satisfying sound effects are completely missing
" Thats unbelievably true, and people still are not aware of it, since majority have not play it. I still (really) dislike the sounds of crabs, and rhoas and goatmen. "This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"

Meh, after playing Act III and returning to Path of Exile, the LAST thing on my mind is a supposedly lack of satisfying sound effects.
There are MANY examples of satsifying sound effects in PoE, the critical chill/crumbling down has often been mentionned. The new sounds for the chat system when people join and leave etc. are FREAKING AWESOME. Audible and not annoying. The cries that Piety and Fire Fury make when fighting you, AWESOME. The new portal sound has more "oomf" although this one is problematic imho in that it is spawned twice in a short time as you exit one area, and enter another. Perhaps you could take advantage of this and make it a two part thing? Sure you can always improve things but as it stands the sound effects are very good. |

" Did you ever play Diablo 1? My little tribute to Diablo 1 aka why Diablo 3 is the worst part of the series.

I really enjoy the sound effects from the game, especially the atmospheric stuff, but i agree that monster deaths/taunts could use a little bit more work. Two of my favorite monster death sounds of all time:
http://youtu.be/I9O2okEz57A?t=8m57s and http://youtu.be/I9O2okEz57A?t=9m9s I think that PoE just needs more "punch" in hits and more painful gasps and screams when people die. |

I also have the feeling that the combat sounds are not loud enough comparing with the other sounds like Music, Environment etc.

In general, I agree with the OP (but not with the poster's later harshness). Doubt I'll compile a detailed list but there are definitely some things missing. "Audio Guy" has already acknowledged this, so .. hopefully a good sign.
One thing tho that did stand out. I just hit 27 and equipped my Geofri's Baptism, and I was feeling like "OK, Godly mode engaged!", but when I went back out into the field it was just more of the same "swish swish" for the swing and "tick tick" for the impacts. Point being: it didn't really strike me that something was lacking, here, until I had a powerful weapon. Wussy sounds for wussy gear works fine, but for the big guns, not so much. ***Now, I have actually gone back in the game to review the exact sounds, and here is my more detailed take: for Sweep, it's more of a "whoosh" than a "swish", but the impact sounds still sound like more of a "slice" or "squish" (both?) than a "thump". In fact, the "whoosh" actually has more low frequency content than the actual impact sounds. Obviously you get a bit into the comic book realm (vs. "realism") by doing so, but I think it would be more "satisfying" if the impacts were more "WHAM! BAM! KA-POW!" and less "tink tink". (If u had told me when I woke up this morning that I was going to find a use for the word "onomatopoeia" today......) I also realize there is a balancing factor, that if the sounds for any one thing are "too" intense, they just wind up dominating the whole presentation. But if nothing else, tho, again: in general, impact sounds should probably flex the subwoofer more than swing sounds do. Anyway, this is just one of probably many examples. Bottom line: stuff that is supposed to be impactful should have impact. TY for reading and for ur hard work. |

Addition:
I just played PoE on my Laptop and the combat sounds are "normal". So I suggest that PoE has a prob with 5.1 Sound. Im using a Creative Soundblaster X-FI Titanium with the latest drivers and a Logitech Z5500 Soundsystem. |

As far as I know path of exile does not support 5.1
if your using a 5.1 or 7.1 system its bound to sound wrong. The audio guy.

It was mentioned in the Announcement section of the forum that they are aiming to have sound variation implemented in the next big/proper patch or at least have it done fairly soon (In a month or 2 I'd expect).

I'm a big fan of good sound effects for immersion and feedback and I do hope we see some improvement in that department, not only because the OP is right in saying it's lacking quite a bit but also because I would love to hear the work done for some of the creatures in POE :D
So yeah, bring it on! Path of PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW
