Satisfying sound effects are completely missing

I am especially referring to monster death sounds which are, unfortunately, almost non-existant in Path of Exile, although they represent a big key role for keeping up the motivation while grinding through areas for better loot.

Diablo 1 (which has, even today, no competition when it comes to sound effects) has meaty monster death sounds, which kept you motivated and were increasing the fun while playing, since you really could hear the pain of, e.g. Goatmen, Hell Knights or Succubi when slaying them.

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY SATISFYING.

Path of Exile's (death) sounds however are just weak, quiet and underwhelming.

To put it simple, they give you NO feedback.

The only sound effect which I do like is the Ice crack sound which you can hear if a frozen enemy gets destroyed. Otherwise, very underwhelming and I do hope that the existent sound effects will get a major boost (maybe volume wise) and that the new sound effects (which probably will come) have a more meaty feeling in them.

I'm not saying that this is a REALLY important aspect as for now (since it's still beta), but the fact, that I always disable the sound and music in PoE whereas I have no problems hearing music and sound in Diablo 1 tells me that Path of Exile still has a lot of work to do in that category.

Here are some Diablo 1 examples:
Succubi

I completely agree, I still have heaps of work to do. Audio feedback is very important, but it takes time to find the right balance.

As mentioned in various other posts, I am working on new impact sounds that should make a fair amount of difference.

The audio guy.
If only goatmen in PoE would be close to this perfection on all counts... Those goatmen always made me carry on just to see and hear those undefinable beauty.

Great feedback and nice to see one of the very few people who appreciate and takes note from the glory of evilness of Diablo I.
"This is too good for you, very powerful ! You want - You take"
oh and BrecMadak, I have permission to spend a bit of money to improve the goatmen sounds BUT its still very low priority and probably wont be changed until after open beta.

That I agree, they're not very distinct. Cant' wait to see what Andrew's got in store for us :)

However as for disabling the sound and music are you out of your mind ? ;) I absolutely loved the music by Matt Uelmen in Diablo II, and the music in PoE is just as good, and yet unique. It's not imitating Diablo's music. In fact in many ways PoE pays tribute to Diablo and yet is still unique.

But yeah I don't mean to argue with the crux of your feedback, moar "organic" death sounds from enemies plz :)

Enjoyed that :) One of my fondest memories is clicking the cow repeatedly in the village with the Rogue. The cow would go "moo", "mooooh!!" and then Rogue would say "Yeah yeah, it's a cow alright!" or "Hey, I'm not a milkmaid!".
Any update on new sound effects?

Bump because a 16 years old Action-RPG still has better sound effects than Path of Exile.

HOW? Is it possible to play this game with no sound or music?? My God Man, why do you even bother?

The music is really nice and i think fits every area spot on! SFX are good! Could be better in some aspects but not that bad that i would ever turn them off. I don't think i've ever done that whilst playing any game.

it seems like you never played Diablo 1 and I already explained it above why meaty sound effects are important (at least for me).
