PoE Density is so good.

The only thing patch notes and balance changes affect are the people chasing the absolute pinnacle of the meta every patch. The primary driver of new things if you log into the game after 2-4 leagues off is whatever leagues went core (or were rebalanced like Abyss/Breach this patch), new skill gems, and whatever big changes they made to the end game system.

That's not exactly true though - all my pre 3.15 characters are completely unplayable, because they don't have the mana to cast their skills, have no defenses as far as current PoE is concerned, and are unplayable without a complete re-gearing.

For post 3.15 characters, the scourge one mechanically functions but was unplayable in AN times becuase it simply wasn't prepared to deal with them, not sure how he fares against the recent stuff. The AN toon is fine, the Sentinel character is completely unplayable due to minion nerfs in Lake, and the Lake and Sanctum characters are fine.

By unplayable I mean 'can't alch'n'go red maps' while most of the characters had 36/40 in their respective leagues.

This and the DS post are more great examples of how PoE is held to a standard other live service games aren't. I play League of Legends

and pretty frequently after a patch you will see someone play the random mode and pick a champ that has had a 'full scope update' and you know what they do when they see the abilities have been changed? They press <Enter> and say 'xD when did they change this champ?' or 'wtf rageblade is a mythic now??' and then go read the patch notes if they want more info.

No one considers this a huge issue with LoL. No one even considers it a small issue. Things change and if you don't keep up you're gonna have some learning to do. But in PoE its an unplayable catastrophe. Lets be honest here.
Unplayable catastrophe is probably too far lol.

Then again a 15k word manifesto on balance changes is a bit much to ask as well.

There is definitely something to be said for a little consistency. Meta changes are fine and keeps things fresh. What GGG does is way beyond freshening up.

D4 mob density and over reliance of resource generator is why I'm not fully enjoying D4's combat atm.

LoL is a fundamentally different game, because the everything resets with every game. You don't spend a hundred hours farming up gear for your Vigo to take into the next game in standard mode. LoL has no standard.

Look at what I was reacting to - your statement about patch notes was wrong, and I explained why.

I'm not saying it's something terribly bad. Hell, I would personally wish patches were a lot more impactful than they are now, so they truly shook up the meta.

Poe mob density would be ok of the servers could handle it. Juicing is lag city. Just look at mf party groups. Some had like 15 seconds of lag from incursion. In fact empyrean knew how bad the kalandra loot nerfs were because he wasn't lagging. Those nerfs still haven't been reverted btw, at least other games drop things for killing monsters. Poe is basically a trade graph simulator with no fun trade tools.

Poe in ssf is miles ahead of D4 as far as loot drops go. Its honestly not even close. Class based loot is garbage. Monster scaling is garbage. Poe is the king and poe2 is looking good af. If they update the endgame to match whats in the trailers its up for everyone.

You know that the "other game" is 2 weeks old, right?
Did you ever play POE the first month of its release? Did you enjoy farming docks for end game lol???
Did you enjoy the lag and the desync?
Did you enjoy the trash loot (the same problematic drop still exists in this Path of Casino).
Did you enjoy not having stash tabs?

Give D4 more time ffs... I can understand all the POE andies but this is too much.

P.S. I am still playing POE and not D4
I'm sure I'm in the minority so I'm just enjoying while it lasts but I find The, uhh, Other Game's density basically perfect. I like that I can actually see what's on the screen.
Vampire Survivors level of density, sinister.

Well, that's also about mindset. To me, PoE has no standard, and standard is never a factor for me. In my head, PoE resets every league/patch too.

While I personally like many changes each league - and I actually like reading the patchnotes and theorycraft while I read, some patches are maybe too much, at least for 'most'(?) people. But I understand that they have to semi-press the reset button once in a while. I don't really think PoE would be as 'relevant' as it is today without its progressive approach.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
As a mostly standard player i agree with innervation. I have to do some adjustments regarding mana reservations when GGG makes changes in that area and sometimes also small adjustments to my trees if nodes get added/removed but other than that there isn't much impact.
Most of the builds i play today were made before 3.15 and they still work just fine for the content they could do before. Even with all the impact that 3.15 had, and it's not like sweeping changes like that happen all the time, i only retired 3 builds when i came back in 3.16. And all of them were marked for scrapping before 3.15 was even announced.
I never had cases where balance changes hit so hard that i had to scrap or completely redesign the build from scratch.

I am huge POE fan but give Blizzard a little credit D4 looks amazing and is a good starting point from which to expand. Is it ever gonna compete with POE for complexity/difficulty - doubtful but are they trying to?

The real question is where are they gonna go with monetization. I'm just waiting for the cash shop stash tabs...that's gonna be some kind of BS in a full price game! That said they are coming and we all know it - I just hope the backlash is at an all time high.

At any rate we are getting so close to Exilecon2...expecting GGG to blow us away!
