As new player to PoE it was fun till 90+ level...

I agree. The XP payout is too small for the sharp 10% death penalty, especially because of the XP scaling mechanisms (there are THREE in place, remember? XP scaling by monster level, XP scaling by level difference AND XP scaling by map level).

My suggestion: either drop the 10% penalty OR get rid of the last two XP scaling mechanisms I mentioned.

Problem is that by hitting a certain level and having to put skill points into irrelevant nonsense like "10 intelligence" (which doesn't do anything tangible at this point) the XP payout from "doable" maps (for me T8 blue currently) - and I mean with that "can get more XP from winning than from dying - actually becomes unviable.

I hit this point RIGHT NOW. I'm stuck ag about 20% on my way from 88 to 89 and see no realistic way to progress with any satisfying mechanic beyond 89.

I know, I know, the "git gud" gigachads will disagree, but there are people who have jobs, rl friends, etc... as well... just sayin'.

My preference: 10% penalty should go away entirely and be reserved for the "ruthless" mode.

As a matter of fact, I don't see many possibilities to progress from here. With a lot of tricks and after levelling up, I try some red maps (blued, of course, I'm not a masochist), but thats about it.

Game has a scaling / balance problem at this point.
When the crimson town boss kills you and you don't know why unless you google it, but you are punished to loose all your progress gives you the idea how badly designed the balance is.

So true.

Games main issue is that its mostly balanced around player inconveniance / annoyance.

Thats quite 1987 (the year I started gaming), frankly.

Lol hitting level 100 isnt even difficult anymore. Jesus this generation is a bunch of whimps.

If you go to Youtube and copy one of the meta with 100M DPS. Yes everyone can achieve killing uber bosses and reach level 100.
But If you want to encourage people to develop their own builds and experiment, but at certain point they cannot progress beyond level 90, they are very unmotivated to keep playing.

What does 100m dps have anything to do with reaching lvl 100? You can have 100m dps and still get randomly 1 shot in maps.

And that person is right. If you're in trade league, it is easier than ever to hit lvl 100. All you gotta do is pay someone for 5 way carries - prolly costs around 10 divs to get from 90 to 100.

Very few ppl get to 100 by themselves these days, and there is really no good reason to do so.

A good reason for avoiding services is to not feed the RMT which carry services are historically one of the largest sources of currency being fed to the RMT.

I'd wager as much as over 50% of carry's are directly cashing out to the RMT based on these people blabbing about it in various third party chats.

Yea I doubt that some of the same player who run 5way over and over again during every league do it for fun.
They don't even end up making a build out of their currency.
You can only see a very few player run it for 1 week or two and move over on a different build while all the other guys run legion until the end of the league.
16-24d/h (not even including the jewels and loot) is a ton of currency after all for the small effort of simple gameplay
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

The only thing badly designed about the crimson township boss is how rare phys degen is, regen in general is massively overlooked by PoE players which is why there are so many threads of people who hate caustic and burning ground even though comparatively they do fuck all.

So basically if you made your own build you are just as likely to have made something that can handle that particular boss as one that can't.

But yes the balance in general is extremely dps focused and they could do far better

Following that thread of logic, I can argue that engaging with trade is encouraging botting because 90% of the people i'm trading with seem to be bots.
