Trading is terribad

You want to "limit" the trade a bit? Okay. But there is no need to make it limited by making it ANNYOING.

It isn't limited anyway, as some trading bots are using it 24/7.

You want to limit it? You can:

1) Trade tickets given every X amount of time played
2) Trade tickets dropping from monsters
3) Trade tickets purchasable with currency
A MILION OF OTHER OPTIONS WITH AUCTION
This will give you even more control to "limit" the trade as much as you want, fairly, for everyone.

Only the bot traders won't agree with this.

Saying that you want to limit a trade by your bad design is both a lie and an excuse.
Make it a good design with set limits, sure.

A good start would be bulk item exchange trading post. Where we can quickly and efficiently exchange our materials to chaos / divines and vice versa.

One of the worst experiences on trade is currency exchange. Not buying items. Items usually sell - people are responsive, invite and trade. But currency exchange is a different cattle of fish.

And I know why that is.
I list my awakened sextants for divines. Let's say I have 100 and sell them all for 3 div. I'm getting blasted with whispers, literally getting 5 or 10 in a minute following listing the items. I pick one guy at random who gets the sextants. 9 others get fuck all, no response no nothing.

And when I try to buy currency im on the receiving end of this. I need 10 attempts to get an invite to buy some chromatics or fusings.
This.

"Trade tickets for selling" sounds great and would fit in with the game as it is perfectly fine.

1 trade ticket per hour should be a reasonable expectation, but they should be given out starting at act 4 or 5.

Diablo failed because they didn't restrict it. Simply limit the number of allowed trades per day and/or add a fee in in-game currency to list an item. These are problems with easy answers.

No, they're not...

Any type of limit you can think of, the botters will have circumvented before you can say 'auction house'. GGG will spend months of development time (at great cost) on a system, and it'll be circumvented in days. It is in no way a good investment for a commercial company.

Any fee will just act as a floor for trading, not in practice dissimilar to what we have today... and people will whine just as much about it as people whine over the current system.

Bot runners would LOVE this!!!
I don't understand most of this. We used to open forum threads with item lists we want to sell(not that forum that you think of right now, there were other ones less corrupted) Or open games with names like "wtb xyz offer xyz"

Trade in this game is so much more convenient now. The only thing more convenient would be an AH for the process of trading itself. But that would feel so dull and boring and you would lose interest very quickly or bots would grind the AH even more than they grind the market right now.

I think GGG has a well rounded middle ground. The only problem is the trade discord right now. To much users on that corrupted rmt place, including content creators and to little on the actual poe trade discord. So they need to fix some things ingame which makes the rmt discord less attractive and obsolete for everyone but the rmt degens.

Btw: If u want more answers don't just wisper for the cheap offers or don#t wisper them at all. Pay 5 c more for convience and you get answers much more often, ez

No. Seriously, no.

When I have time to play the game I want to play the game, not waste hours being ignored, haggling and discussing.

The current "system" for trading is like having to stand in the middle of your cities main square shouting "wanna sell 4090 graphics card" and then, when someone approaches you, you ignore them.

This is not trading, this is torture.

And should I EVER want to play SSF, I WILL select that option on character creation.

1. There is WAY too much loot dropped for it to work. If easy trade was put in, every bot would start identifying all rares, and they'd be on the AH. As a result we'd have the same situation as in D3 before they canned their AH, that nobody would ever find anything 'good' and they could buy much better stuff cheaply on the AH. This is a deadly sin in a loot-based MMO, as Blizzard realised.

Don't see how the current situation is any different, you can find almost any sort of rare item in trade. You already are not picking up anything good for your build from drops, at most you find something good to sell so that you can buy what someone else found.

I was against an AH before, because trade kinda worked. Last times I went to trade the experience had deteriorated so much.

Either do something about making trade work with less friction (right now its too much, maybe not outright AH but do something).

Or make sure getting gear you need is viable without trade. Be it crafting or drops, I don't care. And I don't mean, spend 10 divines to craft the sort of best item, I mean, reasonably get upgrades for your build by just playing.

While this is true for end-game gearing, it is not true for the acts (especially at the start of a league), and beginning maps.

The cumbersome mechanics of the trading system creates a 'floor' for prices, and most players don't have that much money to buy stuff during acts and early mapping... and that is probably where most players end...

Getting to yellow maps is likely not something most players actually do...
I think that you should have the option to "buy now" by clicking a button on the trade site which sends it to your inventory if you meet the sellers listing price.

This would stop people listing items at far too low a price, trying to drive the price down for their own gains.

This would also totally remove scamming and cons from trade. You can change the ToS so that people are told once you buy an item that item is yours, you cannot cancel a purchase. You can of course resell it.

I don't think a buyer or seller fee is needed. I don't agree with bad design and then trying to excuse it by saying it is deliberately frustrating design. I think that is just an excuse. I don't think it will hurt the gearing process as you still need to earn currency to buy items. It will just make you able to play the game more rather than spend too much time whispering people who don't answer.

Just my thoughts on this.
