It can, quite easily actually.
They prefer the current bad system. Annoying players and having an intentionally bad system is how they think of creating trade 'friction' to make it less desirable. Instead of, you know, not using irritation and annoyance as a form of tax on game mechanics. |

i feel this is currently the most requested quality of life improvement. at the very least, we should have an auction house league to try it out.

The fact that you have to tab out of the game and go to a website just to buy things from a player is stupid.
The fact that you have to send a whisper to 20 ppl who ignore you before someone actually sells you something is stupid. The fact that the games meta is 100% based on trading already and they somehow think that they dont need to make such a central part of gameplay a part of the actual game rather then a page on their website is stupid. The fact that people constantly whisper me to buy something then ignore my party invite that I sent less then one second after I got the whisper because they whispered like 20 ppl at once and picked someone else is stupid. The fact that they literally already have this feature on console but still think its cool to claim that it is somehow either impossible or will break the game is the most stupid. All this will do is make the game better by allowing you to access a critically necessary feature that literally every single person who isnt playing ssf needs to use without having to literally stop playing the game to do it. It will allow us to actually, you know, PLAY THE GAME! |

I would be fine with currency trading post.
And making compasses of the same type stackable to 10 pcs and being tradeable in bulk item exchange. Better yet, allow combining compasses' uses.As in, right click a compass and apply to another compass - this will add # of uses to it, without any cap. You want to have a compass with 500 uses? Sure thing, feed it enough and there you go. I shouldn't be expected to go to a third-party Discord server to get myself supplied for mapping. I can easily buy scarabs in bulk on trade site, make the same thing with compasses already. |

They don't need to add auction house. All they need to do is to let you trade without leaving the instance.
But I doubt we're gonna get that, just looking at GGG's philoshophy around this. They want to have an opportunity cost for every action, in this case a map portal and time spent. I still think they can keep the current trading philosophy and add a bunch of QoL features that make it feel 100x better. |
