Archnemesis

I though archnemesis were removed from the game I enjoyed last patch ? Why did it came back without being documented ?

hahaah SURPRISE GAME MECHANIC.
I dunno about anybody else, but I came to PoE from Diablo 2. The occasional tough as old shoeleather Rare critters remind me of some of the most memorable fights I had in D2. I just had an expedition encounter with a Runic beastie with no mods to indicate it either regenerated or leeched life, but every time I got its life bar down a little way, it would pop right back up to full. I left it for Tujen to deal with once I was sure I'd never be able to kill it.

Is this bad? Only if we expect to win every single fight. I would have liked to have known why I couldn't kill that baddie, but I am also willing to bypass the encounter if, for some reason, the occasional rare monster is something I'm not equipped for.

Just let it be made clear why I can't win. ='[.]'=

Sadly they're moving away from this in D2R with the implementation of sunder charms. The current gamer just can't wrap their head around having to lose sometimes. It makes sense in ruthless. You know you died because of bad rare affixes/gear. In base game you get so powerful it feels wrong when you get a random one shot or death.
Curiously under the Archnemesis banner. Does Grasping Vines now do damage overtime, I'm sure it didn't before?

Edit: Quick edit, I know it used to do a fair amount of damage on movement skill use, but that portion was removed and just left with a slowing effect. Now I'm sure it does damage over time untill you remove them by moving.

When you explode a remnant during an expedition encounter, all the monsters unearthed by that detonation, as well as all monsters from later detonations in that encounter, have the modifiers that were on that remnant.

Both before and after starting the detonation chain, you can review the modifiers that will be active at the end of the chain by hovering your mouse over the Expedition Remnant icon on the lower-right section of the screen, to the left of your skill bar.

Ah missed this one, and he's quite right. You probably chose the modifier "Runic monsters heal for 30%(?) every 3 seconds", that included with a rare that has life regen, would be a pain to kill.

Ah, thanks, all! So, next time I'll do better reading the fine print. =^[.]^=

To the Expidition question;

It's likely you destroyed a marker that caused it to heal, as noted above, there's a Recover 20% of Life every 4 Seconds mod that will not be documented on the monster's health bar, but in the Expidition modifiers in the bottom right. If you cannot burn the screen in under that time limit, it's one of the hardest mods to counter (the other being mistakenly breaking a marker that causes them immunity to your damage type).

To the question about grasping Vines;

So there's a few different VERY similar versions of the debuff. Grasping Vines (added sometime near Archnemsis, and was the AN version used on its modifier) was only a slow and prevented Travel Skills. Toxic Vines (added well before in Ritual, slow plus a Chaos Dot), and the current Rare Mod, Vined, that causes Thorned Vines. The Thorned version (i.e the kind you'll run into on rares) is a slow with a Chaos DoT that gets cleared slowly by walking or instantly by dashing.
We are back again to the times, when a lot of rare mobs are harder than pinnacle bosses. Map bosses dies in 1s, some rares can take up to 30s. Perfect balance.
