" Simplified projectile returning"?
" People aren't saying RIP Nimis because it will be directly nerfed, but because Cascade with "consistent" behavior would make it obsolete (for attacks at least) by providing the same benefit with far less drawbacks. |

RIP every non-barrage build I suppose

Also nimis does spell projectiles, and attacks. Big difference.

How will the damage get calculated with Barrage? I can't find a confirmation - if I have a 1m dps with this anoint + barrage support, do all returning projectile hit? Or just one?
Never played or seen much of nimis so I'm not sure |

I watched a few vids and no content creators think Vengeant Cascade will work the way people expect (free double hits with main projectile.) If it does it will definitely be a fun bow/wand league. GGG won't comment on it so we'll just have to find out tomorrow. The way the game currently works it should definitely work.
"Ground targeted" skills (which at the very least are Vaal Burning Arrow and Caustic Arrow, dunno what else) that create AoEs aren't going to shotgun anymore though - GGG said the extra returning arrows come back to the player but will then continue backwards behind the player rather than ending at you or your totem's feet. Less than double damage for the ground targeted AoEs because your initial hit at the target's feet will hit with all your explosions and then you just get an extra freebie as your main projectile that hit returns and hits+explodes one single time more. We can assume from the way Splitting Steel was buffed that it definitely won't work either. They wouldn't buff a skill and then give it a 5x damage boost. Would they? If VC works shooting a boss with Vaal Ice Shot would straight up be 5x more single target damage than Ice Shot last league. I feel like I'm about to get rugpulled. |

" Maybe I'm a special type of intellectually handicapped, but the patch notes show nerfs to splitting steel. Splitting Steel now has 70% effectiveness of Added Damage at gem level 1 (previously 100%), scaling up to 210% at gem level 20 (unchanged). It now has 1 to 2 Added Attack Physical Damage at gem level 1 (previously 2 to 3), scaling up to 101 to 151 at gem level 20 (previously 75 to 113). Projectiles now Split towards 2 targets at gem level 1 (unchanged), and 5 targets at gem level 20 (previously 4). It no longer has 50% less Area of Effect after Splitting, however the base radius of the gem has been lowered by 50% as well. This results in a smaller original area of impact and the same size areas for the impacts from split projectiles. Splitting Steel projectiles can now only travel 45 units before splitting. MINIMAL buffs to max level gem with flat damage and 1 additional target, whereas its initial impact radius was greatly nerfed to trash. Not only that, but the travel distance was nerfed, making it even worse for clearing maps. Before 3.21, Splitting Steal was well balanced for leveling purposes. With stupidly GG gear, it wrecked maps... sure. But who's gonna play this skill? There's now 0 incentive to level with it, so why even map with it when there are better skills? Such a stupid change from GGG. This sword is my proof of full devotion to Steel skills for an entire league (Ultimatum, I think?). Last edited by HwtChirino#2462 on Apr 7, 2023, 5:39:56 AM

I admit I didn't read the patch notes carefully. I still don't think area damage overlap will work after the return.
