Crucible is Fundamentally Flawed - Especially at endgame
" Or you might just not care about such things? Not everyone suffers from FOMO, or to to the same degree as you're implying. Personally, checking every single potentially good or rewarding item as you're describing sounds horrible. I'd much rather miss out on rewards than do something so tedious and just plain boring, as I am playing this game to have fun. Burdening myself with such self-inflicted stress and anxiety seems counter productive to my enjoyment. |

Yeah, the altar is for equipped items, but you can have it in your weapon swap.
I don't look at the altar as revealing what passive tree an item has, which leads to the "gotta check 'em all" perspective. I look at the altar as imbuing a selected item with a passive tree. The whole idea is that you start with an item you'd already like to use (or sell), and you enhance it with a passive tree. There's no more pressure to "check them all" than there would be without the altars. " This is EXACTLY my point, and the choice players are going to have to make, neither of which are good. Edit: and players already do this to a lesser degree. Like do you blindly engage in sanctum areas or do you look at your pathing? Maybe you don't actually care about the rewards, I imagine some people do. My only problem is that we don't have a actual inventory for weapons like we did have in scourge.
Depending on what you want to level in second weapon slots you will hit the bench a lot. |

mostly i wonder how trade will work with tree items

" I mean that's sort of semantics as your description of "imbue" and "reveal" is essentially the same thing to the player. It's not like players now only pickup items they will use, they also consider its relative value or potential. It will be interesting to see how players min/max this. Perhaps skipping is the better option. " This seems very subjective, though. If I make a choice I'm comfortable with, which suits my playstyle, who are you to tell me it's a "bad" choice? If a player prefers to pick up every Siege Axe there is to try to find the perfect Crucible tree, a Soul Taker or a Crucible Divine orb - and he finds that fun, why is it a bad choice? As I see it, with all the content available in PoE, it's sort of a sandbox where you as a player can identify what YOU find fun, and focus on doing that. VERY few things are mandatory, as the game has open/free trading. The only problem here, is when one mechanic is incredibly more powerful/lucrative than other options, forcing players to do 'unfun' things, like some people view Heist. So if that is the thing here, I do agree with you; it's "bad". Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Yes I concede this is actually subjective because everyone does play differently. In general though, I think most people would agree that the choices being "super tedious" and "missing out / ignoring" are not great options. Then again, the league isn't even out. I think it will be a problem, but maybe I'm totally wrong here and no one will care. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

" We'll see. I think the whole thing is fixable through trading - so doing "tedious" stuff isn't mandatory to achieve certain things. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" But they're not at all the same thing, at least not to this player. If you play with the perspective that "every weapon on the ground has a passive tree and if I don't pick it up and check it I'm missing out and it'll suck", then yeah, you're not going to have fun. But that's just a self-inflicted wound. Don't do that. If instead you play with the (intended) perspective of "ooh I found a nice weapon, this is a good candidate to put a passive tree on it and see how far I can push it" then you'll have much more fun. I'm not sure why anybody would want to skip it. - here's my sig
