One thing D4 did better, PORTALS

Here you go:

Instant portal in 2 buttons: Swap weapon then use any skill to open a portal.

Cool idea, but no.

Some of us have no choice but to put auras on weapons and shields due to socket pressure. We don't like to keep reactivating auras.

Tempest Shield turns off when we swap weapons regardless where the gems are socketed. Envy aura too.
Ok and what's the solution for id scrolls? There's no point in arguing, these are archaic systems that have no purpose anymore.

TL Infinite did this cool thing where items still drop unidentified but instead of needing scrolls there's just an 'identify all' button that doesn't require any resources.

Even D2 had deckard cain who'd identify your whole inventory with 1 click

I see the value in unidentified items so you still feel the need to pick up things from the ground (i don't like Last epoch where you just filter everything out so you never have to think about it), but there is no point in making it a click-heavy process.

Torchlight Infinite was made by "XD Inc" not Runic Games, Its not Torchlight.

PoE has been sucessful for going on over 10 years now.. If it ain't broke don't fix it is a saying i like but at the same time if you don't grow and learn you die..

Keeping elements of the game that make PoE(PoE) is very important but there's ways to go about things like identification.. You mentioned an NPC and if that NPC would id things for a cost (the scrolls.. maybe 1.5 scrolls?) anyway that would not irk me nor do i think it would disturb the overall balance of the game especially if its consuming more than normal in fact that might give the little guys a little more value for once.

Innocence forgives you
It's not a new invention of D4 and a feature like this already existed in many other arpgs. Way before d4 was even a thing.
But I mean the portal gem exists and pretty much serves the same purpose.

I gave the D4 beta a run. The biggest thing that I think POE needs is to implement a similar portal system. Why do I need to carry stupid scrolls? Just let me click a hotkey and make a damn portal. What do we gain by needing to use up an inventory spot? They can still have a cast time or no cast time. Doesn't matter. But please implement this, having to carry scrolls around for portals AND identifying is so dumb.

There is a skill gem that casts portal for free.

Chris Wilson mentioned before that most people who play PoE are returning players. So if they don't want those players to get carpal tunnel & RSI and not be able to play the game anymore - then they should do whatever possible to reduce the no. of clicks.

It's already hard to make an arpg that's not click intensive. Adding unnecessary mechanics like clicking on 20 items to identify them one at a time is just stupid. Why can't it consume 20 scrolls of wisdom automatically and id them all?

And doesn't matter if TL infinite is TL or not, it's a pretty solid arpg that took a lot of good elements from PoE. And PoE could definitely benefit from many of the QoL features they have.

I agree that they should invest resources and time into the above concerns, I'm getting old here!

I'd be totally behind that with just 1 change that the cost of auto-identification is higher than using the scroll outright, ex 1.5/2 scrolls required for auto identification.

It really does matter imo but we don't have to agree on that.

All I'll really say is that i was super looking forward to Torchlight 3, now that won't likely ever happen.

Agreed on this one, portal and ID scrolls are filling no purpose as currency and are really just adding clicks annoyingly.

Also 'identify all'. Deckard cain where art thou
My main setup is always fully socketed and my alt weapons are leveling gems for double corrupt.

Portal gem makes me giggle.

At any rate there's a lot that D3 did better let alone D4.
Mostly UI, config options, accessibility options, healing potions, performance and similar.
