One thing D4 did better, PORTALS

I gave the D4 beta a run. The biggest thing that I think POE needs is to implement a similar portal system. Why do I need to carry stupid scrolls? Just let me click a hotkey and make a damn portal. What do we gain by needing to use up an inventory spot? They can still have a cast time or no cast time. Doesn't matter. But please implement this, having to carry scrolls around for portals AND identifying is so dumb.

there is no reason, but they're either too stubborn or don't care enough to change this

Same as respecing your build during campaign, there is no reason not to do it because PoE doesn't really begin till maps
you can use portal skill gem if you dont like scrolls

gotta get dat portal gem

If they implemented portal like in D4 there will again be bunch of people crying over why it opens so slow.

The simple answer as to why GGG does this is that D2 had portal scrolls. I have no clue why GGG doesn't get rid of both identify and portal scrolls. The only rational I can come up with is that they are part of the main progression in vendoring orbs, e.g. wisdom -> portal -> transmutation -> Augmentation -> alteration -> jewelers -> fusing It may be a reason but not a good reason IMHO.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
games are a collection of tasks the player has to master.
more tasks, more game.
less tasks, less game.

the game offering an option to make a task easier should come at a price, otherwise the task is made useless by the option. which results in ... less game.

removing the need to carry portal scrolls comes at the price of a gem slot.

---

wisdom scrolls are needed to prevent bots collecting good rare items where the bot basically consists of a autohotkey script with a item filter.

I dunno, that logic sounds incredibly silly. You get portal and ID scrolls hand over fist without even trying and they take up a measly 2 inventory spaces.

There are no tasks to "master" for always keeping two extremely common items in your inventory. This is just tedium through micromanagement that would have no impact on the game if GGG just did away with it in favor of more modern systems.

And I strongly doubt it has much of an impact on combating bots either. Again, wisdom scrolls are exceptionally common and would allow bots to go crazy with IDing for good rares anyway.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

the task to master is to open your inventory in difficult situations and manage to fast click a portal scroll and then hit the portal. which requires mouse skills which most players don't have so they resort to using joysticks.

of course the portal scroll could be replaced with something more "modern" but i didn't read any suggestion in that matter. op jut wants to remove something from the game cause it's "tedious".

after you play a game for some year, everything gets tedious.

ggg did remove the "advanced item view" for items on the ground.
could it be that they don't want bots with cloak of tamwr islay collecting magic items after filtering them?

and if ggg is (supposedly) paranoid of bots collecting magic items, you think they're fascinated of the idea of all players seeing all rare items in detail on the ground?

this would remove a core element from the game, the excitement of opening a present. cause identifying something amazing is much different than your itemfilter autosorting it for you.

the challenge here is to ignore rare item on the ground and buy the items you need. there are very few players up to that task.

asking for wisdom scrolls to be removed is just showing that you want to have a cake and eat it too

Pretty sure D4 is going to do everything qol related better than POE. How i know? Because it's literally impossible to make it worse, it can only be better. 2023 and GGG is still obsessed with wasting our time by forcing us to pick up all kinds of scrolls. Can't even be explained with "D2 had scrolls", sure it had, but it also had an "identify all" button called deckard Cain. POE doesn't 20 years later and we still have to identify every item one by one... And there are even people defending this nonsense. Can't make this shit up.
