Your thoughts on Ruthless replacing regular for league events?

Ruthless is the vision in it's pure form, it's what the top brass of GGG want the game to be. No matter the marketing talk, that's a fact. The game is going to get more and more towards that goal over time, at least as much as possible without scaring the entire playerbase away. Events being held in ruthless isn't a surprise and it's likely not going to be the last time. People thinking it's just going to be some fun side project are just naive.

Ruthless introduced, claimed it would not detract from regular PoE content.
Now events that would be in regular PoE are in Ruthless.

Where do you disagree exactly? Curious to hear.

I think Ruthless by default would be a disaster for two reason.

First, new players would find the game off putting because of how hard it is and second, there is less reason to buy stash upgrades because you get less stuff like gems and old currency

So fewer new players that do less micro transactions is not good for business.

This has to be the most disappointing mini-league I have played in almost 9 years.

The poor design, the gold vs item costs. I mean a level 1 map for 5k gold from Kirac?

No chance to get any items, I am still using items that fell in Act 2 after completing 10 acts.

I usually try to get 1 char to level 90 for the MTX chances but this league, no thanks. I completed the 10 acts, tried 2 maps & decided it is not for me.

No issues with making things harder but as a general rule, if it is harder, it should be more rewarding.

I mean we are supposed to be having fun right?

At least I get to play Last Epoch for the next 3 weeks while we wait for the next league. I guess Last Epoch picked the perfect time to release the new patch.

I don't think I've spent 20 minuets of my time on it. I participated in every single event for the last 2-3 leagues. But I don't plant to do any of these 3.20 events. They are only for a select few players and it's clear GGG does not want the normal player base to be in their events.

LoL Wut? You started that whole mess, then you insulted him calling him "reddit logic". You accuse him of getting upset after you trolled him. Which again is a troll because I don't see way what he said can be understood as "getting upset", it's called he disagreed with you.

I don't know where the world has gone in the last 20 years but it's like the generations coming up is the most sensitive bunch. You can't disagree with them in the smallest bit or they accuse people of getting upset or acting like they were attacked personally.

that means there's plenty more of time to check out other games and do other things..

thanks dev's for dropping the actual fun factor on most events it only means more time to do other things, explore other games and so on..

I trolled no one that's called sarcasm, they are not the same.

That was not an insult it is a fact, most of reddit hates to see the word ruthless and knee jerk reacts to its use.
If he wasn't upset he would not have made a thread complaining about 1 out of 3 events in the last weeks of a league being in ruthless. He would have just said "na not for me I dont enjoy ruthless" like a lot of people did and moved on with his day. Personally? I dont like any of the events, not for me. So Im not playing them! You can choose to do that.

Instead hes quoting the ggg stance on ruthless modes place in the game and its impact (or lack of) on the regular game because reddit flipped out so hard they were forced to make a concrete statement to calm them all down.

Events have been held for years using regular game mechanics, drop rates, skills, and rules, with added on league-style mechanics or multi-league mechanics.

It takes a huge amount of mental gymnastics to say something using regular game rules consistently for over a decade is not part of the regular game.



So anyway, your disagreement boils down to not calling end of league events part of the regular game (even though all up till now used regular game rules). You could have just said that.

I'd agree with that. I skipped this league anyways, but 1 month ruthless-only event made me laugh really hard. Totally optional game mode they say, noone gonna force you to play it they say, no effect on core game they say XD
